Was out for a good spirited ride with Chrome600 and Nix down in RI this morning and lost it around an unexpected sandy turn maybe 10 minutes after Nix broke off. I saw the first patch of sand, made it through and when I saw the second patch I looked for a clean line and came up with nothing, so decided it would be better to dump in the grass on the side of the road than on the pavement. Went down at maybe 20mph, smashed my left hand and left knee pretty good, bashed my head but other than that I held up pretty good. The bike made it out amazingly well thanks to the frame slider(broken turn signal and a few scratches on the fairing) and some scratches on the helmet. Big thanks to Bill for pulling my bike out of the ditch. Will post up better pics of the bike sometime today, and update when I find out if the hand is broken or not.

sorry to hear that. turns like that are pretty much shit luck and among every biker's worst fears.
glad to hear you made it out in manageable shape and the bike's not too seriously roughed up.
hurray, strikethrough!
...adventure timeadventure time...adventure time...adventure time
Thanks... the sliders definately saved it from any major damage, and it looks like most of the scratches will buff out

That shit should have been cleaned up. I'd be a little pissed. Glad you and the bike are ok.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
If it makes you feel any better I went down today too.
I would classify crashing as devastating.

Glad you walked away...and the gear did its job.
+1 on the sand...where the F*** is the DPW?
Glad you're OK.
I hit a patch on 8A in Mass yesterday almost that big and a big pucker moment
That mess looks bad enough to take out a car.
As a new motorcyclist, my question would be: does the town enjoy any liability for a crash in this instance? Could you, or your insurance company go after a town if you really stuffed your bike and/or screwed yourself up?
I can understand if you encountered those road conditions in February, but in August?
no bikes currently
If you can prove it was a road hazard, you can get your deductible/points waived. Your insurance can then decide to go after the person responsible for the road, but you are out of the loop so it doesn't matter to you.

+1, almost looks like a dirt track to me
but glad to hear you're alright, and I'd say that bike looks pretty damn clean for having gone down
if you need help with anything, def. don't hesitate to ask
did the other gear fair alright?
but hey, here's a good reason for you to head north: did you know there's a place where you can go fast without worrying about sand?![]()
That sucks man! I got a pit in my stomach the second I looked at that first picture.
You should call the town and file a complaint. What the hell is the point of paying road taxes if they can't keep a road clean?
Holy shit Johnny I'm so sorry to hear about this! I spoke to chrome a little while ago and he told me that you went down - holy fuck that's like a beach man. I probably would've followed ya. Heard your hand's fucked up so let us know what's up with it. Sorry again bro.
Duct tape is like "The Force". It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
Glad you're ok. That is one dodgy looking turn. Out of curiosity, which sliders are you using?
Glad you are more or less okay! What road should the rest of us avoid?
Good to see you are fine John.....
Thats why you should always wear a full face helmet!

Well i am glad to hear that you made it out with only minor injuries. I was the guy on the red R1 that stoped quick, thanks for the warning. That corner for some reason is always washed out and covered with sand, i have acually considered putting up a sign or something over there. Acually my first post here, but when i saw this i had to reply. I was about to offer up my truck for a haul but it seemed that the bike was rideable and after seeing the pics i hope i was right lol....you wern't stranded were you?
I crashed that helmet earlier this year and its worked GREAT!!!
Glad you came out alright. Dont bother talking to insurance if the bike is okay and its just a helmet.

Hey bro.....yeah things turned out all good. I got him to the highway and cruised back NP. Bike never stopped running in the spill. I heard you railing on your bike coming down so I ran to the top of the corner to warn you....good thing you knew bout the horrible conditions......wish we did.
Johnny.......bro good to see you got back all good. Blows seeing one of your boys go down. Good thing for gear tho homie....you got right up and started swearing.....rightfully so. Kinda humbling tho when some people rode up and said "people" not a person have died there. I look off into the woods and there's a cross right there........Bull shit road conditions. I knew as soon as I got through......and I barely got through.....my whole rear end came out and I almost highsided....that I should look back and "make sure" right then I saw the whole thing.
Gimme a heads up on the hand brosef....hope its just a sprain man.....I still got ur blinker too. Hope all goes well. Bike faired very well though I must say and for that tumble you made out fairy well.
Keep in touch.
