After selling my track bike I am currently in the market for a new one. Right now I am thinking of looking at bikes with salvaged or repaired titles so that way I can get them cheap. My question is to you guys is this.
I am looking for an 01-03 supersport 600
When scouting for a good track bike what should I look for?
If its a salvaged title whats the best way to tell if the frame, forks, swingarm are bent.
Any other things I should look at on a bike that has been in a crash?
I know the general stuff about buying a motorcycle however I have never bought a salvaged title bike before and dont want to get screwed.
Are you planning on racing or just doing track days. If you are planning on racing I would not waste my time looking for salaved bikes. You have to buy too many new parts with suspension, rear sets, brakes, body work ect. I would check the WERA board and find someone selling their race bike.

88 EX500 - Broke
Oh and don't forget if you are racing you have to safety wire the entire bike!

Well for right now I am probably only doing track days. I did my first track day this past week and I sucked theres no way Im good enough to race.
Whats WERA? And what is the link to their site.

WERA runs several roadracing series throughout the US. Remember when you look at these classifieds that they are also throughout the US so you have to dig a little to find local stuff. You can also check out the lrrs classfieds at lrrsracing.com but there not updated very often.

There was a 99 R6 on craigslist a couple of days ago for 2500 bucks! That would make a sweet trackday bike.

I think he had it up at Loudon this past weekend for less money than that.

I would make sure the title is clean and maybe see about a Carfax or something on it (Not sure if that works for bikes) It is very easy to swap out a gauge cluster. There has been a lot of illegal bike activity in that area this summer.Originally posted by SVRACER01

this kid is the son of the owner of cabletron...... his dad bought it for him and hes afraid he will kill himself on it so he doesnt ride it. he doesnt really need the money since he lives in 1+ million dollar house............... by himself. so $4k to just get rid of it

$4000.

That's a damn good deal. Bike like that much better choice IMO than a 600 I4.
