So why exactly do the Icon helmets suck so bad?

Heavy, Noisy, Poor quality, Known more for the designs than the tech... You pay for a pretty paint job, not the R&D.

Any professional racers wear an Icon?

if you have a 300 dollar icon helmet you might aswell have a 400 dollar arai

Although if you crash alot and are replacing them alot you can go for a cheap one.

I'm not defending nor promoting Icon, just asking a general question. Also what I deem as a fairly reliable source (webbikeworld.com) gave the helmet a pretty decent review.

But seriously, Icon's are fine. Better than 1/2 the helmets out there. You just have to live with the hooligan image when you buy one.
