He is in new london ct and has an 860 area code. This is where the new london naval base is so either this kid is upside down on the bike and trying to get more than he owes so his credit doesn't go to shit and they pull his security clearence, or it was stolen from a military member. I would be very weary of this cause either way it is going to end with the bike being reported stolen

The engine does have a vin but the frame is what they use to determine the origin of the bike. you can swap a motor and not tell the registry but if you swap the frame you have to re-register the bike. Long story the motorcycle is the frame. everything else bolted to it is of no consiquence for legal purposes.

What are you guys talkin about? He's clearly stripping the bike down to use the frame to uhm, hmm. Wait, what the hell would he part it all out for except the frame?

Hope he wakes up in the morning with his head sewn to the mattress

I would think that too but those guys usually try to sell the whole bike and this guys phone number has a legit area code for the location. I am thinking he is just up to no good.

dude got back to me and wanted 600 for the wheels/rotors/sprockets. He also failed to answer any other questions. The ad says call nick but the email is a guy named Al Destephino. this is sketchy for sure.

Someone should call the po-lice. Do they have a tip line for chop shops there like they do in Boston?

No. I lived in new london for 3 years an the 5-0 are kinda backwards down there. they just don't care or are to busy. They will probably say "no crime has been committed here..."

Re: fishy CL ad - anyone "lose" an 08zx6r?

So I talked to this guy about the engine and I asked if it had a clean VIN. He says the entire bike is clean and the reason he is parting it out is because the bank has the title. So I am guessing he is really upside down on a shitty loan and now they are trying to take the bike back. So he is going to strip the hell out of it and try to make as much money as he can before they finally catch up with him. By the time they find the bike (and they will) it will be just a frame (He hopes). Thing is they guy is an idiot for doing it on craigslist and I think there is a law against intentionally damaging a vehicle or parting it out if you are not the title holder.

if he finds enough buyers for the parts he can make enough money to pay off the loan. this happens allot down south with atv's. people strip year old quads as the sum of parts is worth more than selling it whole. also there's always a need for spare parts because they modify and mud the shit out of them and are always breaking things.

I am pretty sure that is not legal as you do not own the bike.

oh i'm sure its not but its done. if in the end you pay the bank (unlikely) whats the difference.

this is what happens when banks write shitty loans to deadbeats.
