Re: Help! Want to paint my bike
I was supposed to meet up w/ Rob this weekend but unfortunately was right in the middle of an ice storm. Had no power for over 3 days straight. No heat, no water, no lights, no NOTHING. House dropped down in the 30's. Could see my breath in the house. SUCKED. BUT, got power now and back to reality. Gotta give him another call and see if there's another time we can meet.

He also said he'd paint the fairings on my bike for a more reasonable price than the local auto mechanic. So hopefully if I can pickup an upper fairing off eBay, I should be looking new by the new year!
How much did he quote?

Re: Help! Want to paint my bike
If you prep it, I'll shoot it for $250, quality not guaranteed
Here's the example I did :spit:

Looks good from afar, but far from good? heh, j/k. It looks good, but quality must be a guarantee.

Looks good from far and on cellphone pic hahah:spit: Didn't care much of how it comes out, track plastics anyway, done with spray can....
But, yeah, a proffesional quality paint job will cost you a pretty penny.

Yea, looks like it's going to cost me anywhere from $400 - $1200, depending on who does it and what kind of paint. I'd like to do closer to the $1200, for it's what I really want...BUT, I only have about $700. lol

What kind of paint did you use, Duplicolor? And did you just lay heavy on the base coat, or did you clear as well?

Used all the stuff from autozone. Primer, red duplicolor and satin black Krylon paint, duplicolor clear.

Re: Help! Want to paint my bike
So it looks like I'm gonna have Rob from Next Generation paint my bike. I'm supposed to bring him the plastics this weekend and he'll have it done in a couple weeks. I'm doing a white base w/ a white/silver crystalized flake. Should look sick. Thanks Kitt for the recommendation.

Re: Help! Want to paint my bike
Lol. Well that should be up to Rob if he wants me to tell people or not. Believe me, I'm not getting it for a steal or anything like that, but certainly a good deal. Especially considering he's doing all the prep work and he's guaranteeing an awesome job done. I'll talk to him this weekend about sharing costs over the forum. Nothing to do w/ manning up...just respecting someone and their business.

Re: Help! Want to paint my bike
good idea... rob works with everybody, every paint job is different. the best way to get a feel for his pricing is to call and tell him what you want. the best way to see his quality is to take a ride to his shop.

I was at Next Generation Saturday morning when you were on the phone w/ Rob. Said you're bringing him in a nice set of track plastics. :hbang2:
