So I'm looking for someone to paint my bike white over the winter. I'm also considering putting in a flake over the white, maybe something like a silver just to make it sparkle.
Regardless, does anyone know someone that does a good job at painting for a reasonable price? This isn't a track bike, so the quality of the paint job would have to be good. I'm looking to spend about $500, maybe a little more. Is that reasonable?? If not, I'm even willing to do all the prep work of sanding down all the plastics. From my understanding, that is the majority of the work right there.
Please help!
Oh, and I'm near the Worcester, MA area, but closer to Gardner if any of you have ever heard of Gardner. lol
Thank you,

Give Mike at Central Auto a call.. I trust him with any car or bike I would paint.. Tell him Gerard sent you (508) 798-9727
Chris from the site also has him do all of his work
Gerard
if you are looking to have all the bodywork done including the tank then 500 is a little low. since you want a flake it is going to be even more. keep in mind the best way to get the cost down would be to do all the prep your self. i do not think you will find a guy that will do a quality job for $500 on a full set and tank unpreped. I am in the process of doing mine right now and i am going to a gloss white. Cost? 900-1000$ to be fair though i am getting a piece repaired but even still 800-900$ for a flat color, flake will be more.
Yea, I actually just saw Central Auto come up in another forum about someone having gotten their bikes painted there too, but OEM colors. Mine obviously won't be OEM, but I sent Central Auto an e-mail regardless telling them what I want to do and asking for a quote. If I don't hear back, I'll call Mike and tell him Gerard sent me. Thanks so much!
Yes, I totally agree. I am VERY willing to do the prep work to help keep the cost down. But a lot of paint places will want you to do the prep work slightly differently. So once I settle with someone to do the job, I can ask them how they want me to prep it. Because yes, from my understanding, prepping the pieces is almost all of the work. So if I'm considering doing all the prep work myself, does about $500-$700 still sound reasonable for a true gloss white (which is what I REALLY want...a flake would be a bonus)?
have you seen the 'white' on the Ducati 848 and, now, the Multistada? Pretty sweet....

Is that Next Generation in Westfield?

Thanks Kitt. Greatly appreciate it.
Wel the more places I know that can paint my bike the better...because that's just more chances I can get on better prices and the best paint jobs. Anyone else know any good places? I'm definitely going to give Central Auto and Next Generation a call though and see if we can work something out. I appreciate the help and the quick responses! (This is a great forum!)
Robbie Nigl of PeachPit Racing in Canterbury NH (near the track) does the best work around and is a nice guy to boot. He will do a set of race plastics for around $475 I think, add a couple hundred for the tank. Not sure about street plastic pricing. Tell him Christopher sent you.

Yes, def worth checking out! Thank you!
WOW. Montour Falls? Yikes, that's 6 hours away! What are you doing driving through my way about every other week?? That's a long ride!! lol. But yea, I checked out the site and the work looks really nice. Any idea how the pricing is?
not trying to thread jack, but would an upper fairing cost more than $360 to paint if I prepped it myself? how about a lower fairing?
I was going to get some bodywork painted too (lower fairing and upper fairing), but the upper is $360 new, painted on ebay and the lowers are $500, factory painted on eBay. so I'm wondering if it's cheaper just to buy them new instead of buy undamaged used, and have it painted
Personally I think you're best buying undamaged used, but buying one the right color. Then you're getting it at used price, in new condition, and already painted!![]()

i don't drive to montour falls every week, but i do drive by you. seeing as were coming into sledding season i'll be seeing the guys from empire a lot more often and can pass your parts on and bring them back.
all they do is paint bikes! there pricing is spot on!
shoot them a email. they probably paint more bikes and bike parts in a year then anyone in the country.
btw:they painted one of my bikes back in 02 it cost 1/2 of what it would had cost new.

K, so far I spoke with Rob at Next Generation (and I plan on meeting with him on Saturday), I sent an e-mail to Central Auto yesterday but haven't heard back from them yet, and I just sent an e-mail to the guy's at EmpireGP. I also have a few local people that do work from home that I'm considering as well. So thank you all for your help and recommendations! It's greatly appreciated!
