Hello all!! I'm buying the bike now and there is the gsxr 1000. I called the seller and he said that he bought the bike from his friend because his friend can't pays for it anymore. He bought the bike with no title and he bought the frame on eBay with the 2008 title to do the paper work for it. So now he said that the bike is 2012 but with the clear 2008 title. He has the vin# of the 2012 gsxr now on the title and he got it inspected and on the road now. The title said the bike has 4500 miles " from the 08 frame" and the bike only have 4000 miles now So basicly the bike is 2012 but the title is 2008. Is it even possible to do that?? Because if it's all legal and safe I would get that bike with great price. Should I go for it or should I stay away? Thanks
Sounds sketchy to me. If he bought the bike from his friend, then the title should have moved with it. If it didn't, it's because his friend couldn't pay off the bank, so I'd say they still own the bike.
run away.

Very dodgy!! Avoid.
Run for hills man. Not worth your time.

You shouldn't buy it. What's the guys number, I'd like to talk to him.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
although title errors do happen that way too sketchy. My 06 GSXR 1000 title says 99,999k miles on it for some odd reason. I assume somebody fucked it up.
But buying a bike with different VINs and different years. from someone you dont know... i dont think so
Thanks for all your advises. I'm running away from it.![]()
Same thing happened to my CBR 1k when I sold it. I screwed up when I sold it by checking off the wrong box on the title. When the buyer received the title it had the same mileage as yours. To fix that you will have to get in touch with a Notary of the state to swear that the mileage is correct. Send that document in along with your title and it will be cleared up.

I am not trying to fix it, LOL. I will never ever sell that bike so the title doesnt mean much to me
but thanks for the advice, Ill try to remember that if something like that happens again...
we might have a new addition the garage soon... i havent had a yamaha in years...
Unless its under 2-3K don't bother it will be real hard to unload after....

ah true, forgot about that. still could stamp VIN# into a metal plate, rivet/attach to frame over old number, profit. your average LE roadside inspector probably doesn't know it should be stamped into the frame itself, nor be able to visually identify that it's a 12 and not an 08. when's the last time anyone checked your VIN during a routine traffic stop?
