    GSXR Owners

Apparently this is a comon problem but after all the research and fixes I've tried that worked for everyone else I still havent been able to get my speedo to read anything other than 0mph.

I've done the common sense fixes like unplugging the speedo wire that goes into the sprocket case from the harness and checked it re-plugged it and nothing..changed the fuses...took off the sprocket case and checked the speedo nut and spacer and everything seems to be fine. The actual reader part isnt chipped or damaged.

Kitt is nice enough to send me a speedo wire for free to see if thats the issue. Which is saving me from spending 80 bucks on one from the dealer.

Anyone else have this issue? Is there anything I may have overlooked.

Just incase someone asks there is a 520 Vortex kit on the bike.

    Here's a test:

Unplug that connector from the sprocket case. Attach a multi-meter set to ACv. With bike in nuetral and rear tire off the ground, spin the tire. You should see an AC voltage readout on your meter. Or if your meter can read Hz (frequency), then set it to that. Frequency should increase the faster you spin the tire.

If that works you can eliminate the pickup coil and reluctor ring inside the case as being the problem.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong as I'm not familiar with the GSXR specifically, but this is a good way to test speed sensors in general in automotive.

Good call Stiggy...I have a multi-meter at the house. I'll try that when I get off work. Thanks

Its probably your sensor wire. I had one die on me. Replaced it and was well.

Cool, Kitt mentioned that you had a similar issue. Thanks for chiming in. Hopefully its just the speed wire..I hate wiring.

    Re: GSXR Owners

Update - It was the speed sesor wire that goes into the sprocket cover. THANK YOU Kitt for sending me one. I will now be less paranoid.
