Kinda early but I couldn't wait to get my hands onto my new bike. As the weather starts to get a little bit warmer and bearable to work in the garage, I tore it down further yesterday so I can put some work into her.
Currently, what I am planning is the following.
Got a 1098s stock exhaust for the black pipes (identicle cans to the 848, just black body's).
Got an adjustable rear link in red.
Picked up an integrated rear tail light (clear) and also going to put the stock blinkers in the tail vents. Accompanied by a custome fender elim, build by me for tons less than what you can buy.
Removed the passenger pegs and sold them today.
Needs an oil change and recall work. suspension setup after I get the rear link installed.
Looking to get some sliders for it and a seat cowl to replace the passenger seat. I have read that a 14t front sprocket really brings this thing to life, though I haven't even ridden it yet so I can't say one way or the other. Also a steering damper if I'm going to get serious with the track, but that is a High $ item that I'm waiting on to see if I will need it.
I started it up yesterday and man does it growl. I love the sound of it, even with the stock pipes on it. I am so pumped to start riding I can't even describe it. I have the bug so bad to get out and try my new bike.
really sweet looking bike, i'll be embarrassed to ride with you!! How do you think it will compare to your 600?

why YES Jason, i WILL take it for a ride on t road.
it's just a matter of time before you miss your gsxr and lo and behold, I have one to trade!
congrats!
I can only think that it will be much better than the 600. I know it will be way more bike than I can handle so I'll be taking some baby steps.
I will never miss that gsxr. It was a nice bike but just didn't have the passion like I do with the 848.
Different type of power delivery that you will have to get used to.
I am used to it so when I take it for a spin it should go like stink.
Remember I have dibs on first ride.![]()

Broke it out yesterday and started putting everything back together.
This is what I ended up with. Left side plastics still aren't on because I needed access to the battery and to do an oil change.
What I've got so far is:
CF Seat cowl from Ducati Performance
Clear Alternatives Integrated Tail-light (clear)
Stock signals in tail vents
1098s exhaust
After my short ride around the cul-de-sac my next purchase will be a rear hugger.
Not sure why I couldn't attach this to my other post, same side, different angle.
I love your bike, it's just so "clean". I sat on one similar at Seacoast, I love em but I'm just not a good fit for it.

I'll be waiting for him, and that plate!
SWEET ride, getting close with the snow going over your way. Need some rain to clean the roads and the back too two whees on the pavement, occasionally anyways.

Its official. today was the first ride of the year.
got it registered on monday. got home from Albany, NY this afternoon and found that the temp had creeped up above 45 degrees. Finished my plate bracket, threw it back together and jumped on for a cold ride. Actually, with all my gear, it wasn't that bad out today. Wind was horrible.
The 848 on the other hand is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. I kept it pretty straight up and took it real easy today. The roads were dry, but still had a ton of sand/crap on them. Feels like it is so flickable though. Really light steering and super responsive to inputs. Throttle response felt a little off, but that is probably because of the crappy gas/stabilizer that is in it right now. Power is....how do i put it....sneaky i guess. Deceptive may be better. First gear feels super tall at low speeds. Getting onto I-89 to head home I had to get on it a little bit and boom, almost hit the limiter. Super quick. Transmission is smooth. Much smoother than my gsxr and seems to click better. Brakes I didn't really touch that much because of the sand/gravel but I know I have to adjust the rear brake lever position. Feels super high.
Other than that, I am stoked. Beyond stoked, wicked happy. This is going to be a great riding season, for me at least.
Congrats, Jason!

Slick ride. I haven't seen any posts with pics till this one (if there were others). I kinda hibernated over the winter and wasn't on here much.
I took a 996 for a spin. I am NOT bashing the Ducatis, I WILL own one someday but.....its power delivery didn't do much for me unfortunately. It didn't have the torque I was expecting. Bear in mind that was the first Ducati I've ridden, first real twin as well. All I had to compare it to was my 01 gixxer 750. I hadn't even ridden a litre bike yet. But much like you found out, they rev out so much faster. When I turned around to head back I whacked it wide open. Expecting torque city and front end lift, it stayed planted and before I could blink it was on the rev limiter.
If you really want the ground to shake someday, get the dual Termi cans for it. Or if you really have some $ to spoil yourself with, the full Termi race system (if they build it for the 848).
We didn't get to ride last summer but this summer I sure won't have a problem following the 848 around![]()
took a ride today. about 40 miles around the area and ended up taking this pic that I like.
NICE PIC!. It will probally be another couple weeks for me before I ride, I really want to see some rain to clean the roads up a bit. Getting very tempting though

should be getting some rain today and hopefully NO SNOW tomorrow. that should help clean things up a bit. Then its just warm weather to melt all the snow.
wrong color. should be red.![]()
