This was one of those challenging days. Don't get me wrong . . . in the grand scheme of things, there was no crash, no injury, etc., so things could be a LOT worse!! I've been there and done that. But I still feel slightly nauseous and very frustrated.
Please, make me feel better and tell me about that day that put your love of all things moto to the test!!![]()

Eeesh. That fall under warranty??
Ok, moto story. I bought a '95 900SS that hadn't been running for quite a few years. I found out that 3 of the 4 cylinder studs on the front cylinder were broken, after I sunk a serious amount of cash into freshening it up. It was pretty F'ed, and needed a new piston and cylinder. Ended up trying parting out the bike. That was a worse idea.

So sorry Hannah! I heard you mention this today but wasn't sure of the details... Man that sucks! I hope its covered for you, no reason that would happen as normal wear and tear...
And regarding making you feel better, I make a mean martini![]()
Thanks, guys - L, I will take you up on that martini offer. It's about 6 months out of warranty, so won't be covered. So it will go to a welder to make the boo-boo go away.

This was known to happen on the old aircooled twins... Not sure about the superbikes.
Is that on your Hyper?

Yes, it's the Hyper. The only time I've heard of this happening on low-mileage air-cooled twins is if the motors were built . . . this one is not.![]()

Talk to Ducati, they may goodwill some of it if you can document proper maint/etc has occurred and this didn't happen from abuse.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)
Couple people had this happen over on Ducati.ms the warning signs were oil coming out of the left side center cover. Most people write it off as just a bad gasket.
This is currently my biggest fear with my hyper. Good luck.
Try and find some of the build threads over there. If you do end up rebuilding then there is some killer tips on upgrades that I have listed at home as a "just in case"

I think I know what caused that..it begins with a D
Sorry to hear about your bike Hannah and glad there was no accident from that.

That will teach you to clean your bike...
Seriously, you got it right in the beginning. 'In the grand scheme of things...', if this is the worst thing that happens life is still pretty freekin' awesome!
SEE YOU MONDAY IF NOT SOONER!!!

I would be losing my mind if my two year old bike had a crack in the case already. Sounds like poor quailty to me...Unless their was some serious abuse, even then...
Just an update on this, and a shout-out to Seacoast Sport Cycle and Ducati. I'm not aware of the exact nature of the conversations that went on between Seacoast and Ducati, but the parts and labor are being covered by Ducati . . . new cases are scheduled to ship out to Seacoast on Monday.
Many thanks for your thoughts/suggestions on this thread, and kudos to Seacoast and Ducati!!It's things like this that make me a loyal Ducati customer . . .
. . . well, that and the fact that inline-4s scare the crap out of me.![]()

Hmmm.. I'm no expert, but it looks like an improperly torqued engine mount bolt or maybe someone had a particular brand of frame slider installed???
