Random question...
I noticed this on the CBR600RR last year, and then never looked at any 600RR racebikes. And now here it is on this bike too.
What the heck is that vent on the front of the tail section for? Isn't it just going to cause extra drag? Or are they keeping the rear brake reservoir in there and need cooling? (Seems unlikely you'd need cooling there)
I always figured this would get deleted from the racebike and it was just a styling thing on the streetbike.

Yep, the exhaust is there now. They must need the extra air for cooling. I wonder how much of your leg hides the vent that looks very much needed.

It don't matter that your body may block some of it.. at least not on the track bike.. because racers are usually hanging off one side or the other.
The negative pressure behind the bike will pull air through. It's not in the air stream even when you're hangin off. It more for rider comfort I believe. racers were getting their buns toasted!
