If they stay true to the form this bike will be a boon for the smaller of stature among us. Pedrosa fits on it pretty damn well and he is a fairly small guy in height and weight. Regardless it sure would be cool if Honda jsut went for it again like say the RC30 as they make such staggeringly awesome stuff and then sell mostly bland stuff that works super well. The CBR's are the exception where as the S2000 was a car that had it all and looked like a Miata could eat it for breakfast in a street fight.
Dave
Fairly small? Pedrosa cannot be a human. He's too small to have all the correct parts. Alien.. Definitely..
Yeah. Repsol rules. I want a repsol. Wonder if I can buy factory direct. http://www.repsol.com/es_en/
PS, this thread sucks almost as much as Doc

I believe this is actually a different rumor. there's the customer bike rumor which is the bike between a full prototype and CRT. then there's this rumor which is calling it a production bike for sale to the masses like the Desmosidici. priced out of the average guys budget but not virtually unobtanium like the real race bikes. I had read the article that Doc might have read but felt the need to not link to but the article was taken down fairly quickly. It said there was gonna be an announcement sometime, I wanna say it said this weekend but I forget.

Booo. The RC213V production bike being presented as a halo bike which will be hugely expensive and strictly limited in numbers.
Okay, back to my reality; looking at 15 y/o VFRs and beat up CBR600's.
My budget would call more for a Rotella version, rather than a Repsol version. Paint it blue like the syn oil's bottle, or a white one for even less money. Maybe sell it at Walmart and Pep Boys.

Now, the discussion turns to: who needs a kidney?

If you ain't first......you're last!
I don't get the point to release a bike like this. Is it just to say "we did it"? If you're going to put out a replica, then make it semi-affordable so more people can enjoy it. There's no middle ground with Honda, you get mediocre street machines (in comparison to other manufacturers counterparts) or you get super duper über bikes that no regular Joe can afford.
Wirelessly posted
Mediocre street machines?
Forget the v4 liter bike.
Get the 1.8 liter 6 banger http://thekneeslider.com/archives/20...-cedric-smith/
By that I mean, never leading the pack...except for ABS. The last time they had a breakout model was what, the 900RR? The 1000, for instance, doesn't offer TC, class leading power, or anything that would put it as a class leader. Similar situation with the 600rr. That's not saying they are junk bikes, hardly the case. Honda is always considered the conservative choice among the options. I just think that instead of going big by putting this GP bike out there, why don't they put that effort [$$$$] into their existing supersports? Or maybe into supported racing outside of GP?

I like to know who's doing The Big H marketing analysis??????
In an economic environment we are having right now and with sportbike sales at an all time low, what is Honda thinking?? I was 17 years old and bought a brand new 1984 ninja 900 for around 3500 cash. The target market is younger males, tell me who is going to buy a bike like this, a street bike no less.
The Big Four should be concentrating more on smaller cc bikes that John Q can afford. Bring back the sub 500 classes, give us a killer chassis and an 18k rev engine at an affordable price and sales will grow. $20k, 180+HP litre bikes for the street? Yeah right.....
Pete
High end stuff is selling. The guys with money are pushing Ducati sales up like 40% or so. Maybe Honda isn't chic enough though to sell to the upper market crowd. Guys who need credit can t get it and thereby mainstream sport bike sales as well as others slow down. Thinking the buyers will be collectors or Starbucks riders.
