topic: Stolen!!!!

Well my bike just got stolen from right in front of me... It just happened no more then 30 min ago. I was trying to sell my bike because of some student loans I was trying to pay off.

So some guy came to see it, which he is about the 10 person to come take a look at it. He came with his girlfriend in her car and I was showing him the bike while his girlfriend stayed in the car. His girl friend said she was going to go get us coffees and that she would be back in about 10 min. So I turn it on and show him rev it a bit let him hear the exhaust then while its on he asks me if he can sit on it. I said sure...

And wouldn’t you know it the mother f*cker took off. At first I was like wtf then I jumped in my car to try and follow him... which was really stupid because he was gone b4 I knew it. So i call the cops and im waiting for an officer to give me a call back mean while they put a locate out for it.

So its basically gone forever, the thing that pisses me off so much is I don’t have insurance. I haven’t ridden it in about a month and have just been trying to sell it so I never bothered to renew it. I just hope that bastard dies and burns in hell, I don’t even care if I get the bike back I just want to know he died while he was trying to run with it. So now I am stuck with a finance for a bike I no longer have, I hope he gets whats coming to him.

I firmly believe in how most dealerships only allow test rides after you buy and then you can return it if you want, personally I would not have let him sit on it with it running, but hindsight is 20/20.

That really does suck, but be positive, maybe the ass will kill himself on it.....

Wow thats crazy. I've actually had a discussion about test rides when selling a bike.

Personally I normally wouldn't allow the person to test ride the bike mainly because of a fear that it might get damaged or in that case stolen. But if the potential buyer demands a test ride to seal the deal I'd take some precautions to cover myself a little bit.

Either way I would have made the potential buyer sign a document saying he/she is responsible for any damage done to the bike during a test ride and will pay for the repairs, and he/she has to temporarly turn over their keys to the vehicle they came in.

That's also what I have demanded when buying my bikes, if they won't let me ride it outright.

I think you can get a sense of the tranny and gears and brake that way at least.

But the disc lock solution to this scene is brilliantly simple.

I would never meet at my place of storage to sell a bike, car, or anything a thief might want to come back for. meet at said location away from the storage place.

My neighbor just had her 20 day plate jacked from the back of her brand new car. I went right the fuck down and got the New Yorker chain and kryptonite lock out and chained my shit up in the shed, then went and got new locks for the shed. If they want em that bad after that then fuck that is what insurance is for. Just don't make it easy for em.

I hope they find the bike, and the fuck that jacked it and beat the tar out of them.
