do you guys know the Harley weave?
I think the pipes are what's killing it, but gotta meet emissions. Yamaha always makes a nice motor though
most harleys i see for sale have 20-30k miles on them...i've been looking...someone is driving them further then from bar to bar....
the old harley mantra died out a long time ago....they are just as reliable as anything out there as a matter of fact when have you heard of a recall that severly effected the useability of the bike? No frame snapping in half or a gentle low side causing the bike to burst into flames on a harley ....as far performance goes...modern harleys are plenty fast, handle and brake just fine for the streets...the jap bikes may be faster...but isn't more fun to ride a slow bike fast? isn't that what we tell squids that want a 1000?
can we please get past these lame stereotypes...it is getting really old and tired...if you ask me, the sportbikers are the worst offenders yet always point the finger towards the other groups...harleys, goldwingers, bmw riders etc....there's always a sportbike rider to chime in with something negative to say...
after about 20 i got off laughing....i believe it was the 1600cc (or was it 1800cc). I dunno it was my aunts, she is 5'3'' and 105lbs....rides a 950+lbs harley or whatever. Every idiot she meets she finds on a harley....
I am not trying to be mean, its just hard to believe someone would think of riding it "fast" as you say.
do you like the new Harley xr1200? I did meet a kid on rt 2 a few weeks back on a v-rod that was really cool. Just like giving them a hard time, bc in all honesty their bikes do suck.

it isn't bad...but not one i want...if i bought one i think it would be something like a street glide and still have a sportbike in the stable...
i like this storz kit for the sportster better then the xr1200
i think getting a used sporty cheap and building that would be pretty sweet
I love the looks, but its power production sucks. I am a big fan of cafe racer-types though.
thats my point. the only harly were the sum of parts comes remotely close to the price of ownership is the v-rod. soft tails are cool bikes, 15 grand cool? not even close.
i like the new Europe only sportie. all the bike i would need for street twisties but i can get the same performance out of a 10 year old 600 for 2 grand.
you guys are comparing apples to oranges. harleys = straight line touring, sport bikes = twisties. why would you make the comparison of buying a harley for the twisties and then call it an obsolete machine with no performance when your using it in the wrong venue.
its like buying a honda civic then trying to tow your 5th wheel and calling it a bad tow vehicle
but to lighten up this thread
bagger wheelies!

na, I am not a clown. There's a stereotype for a reason. my aunt gives me crap all the time about my 'jap-crap", and just like the majority of harley owners I meet, she has not 1 clue as to anything other than riding bar to bar.
is there? is there a sole and all that? harly doesn't spend shit on r@d but rakes in the bucks selling the same ol bike year after year with few upgrades. i have a problem with that. picking the pockets of your customers because there blindly loyal. i guess they can justify it because there's a higher resale value?
how long has chevy been using the 350? if it aint broke...why fix it...
how many other vehicles have "improved" over the years....take the gto for instance....new and improved isn't always better...then you see manufacturers going retro to get back some of the magic lost throughout the years....
they have made improvements...they aren't crap box oil drippers anymore..
