This is a respost from another forum but I figured we could get a few NESR people out.
As long as the ice is good, we will be at Nuts pond in Manchester, every Sunday. It is by far the best place to go. No houses around, walking distance to food and stuff. We even go so far as to flood it during the week so it becomes glare ice after each use. We also bring an atv with a plow to help maintain it. (courtesy of Naults Honda of course!!!) LAst year we tried to hook up with a Zambonie...is was like $1200 to but, but we would have also have to buy a trailer. So too much hassle.... After a couple of weeks people tend to catch on. It is totally off the hook. People bring grills and other stuff. It becomes a tailgate party.
I will be sure to keep every one up to speed on where and when.
Later,
Mike

I could get into this, tho it'd be on a quadsaturday night i put a bunch of screws in the tires of my quad and went for the ice.. it was a very controled fun but could use more traction, i think i had to much traction in the front and not enough in the rear. It sure doesn't take long to chew through the ice

No shit??? Still racing there, eh? Up until about 5 years ago, we lived in the condos behind there, up on the hill. Not those cheesy section 8 apartments, the condos behind 'em...
If anyone would like tips on getting to the 'pond' from the non-busy side, post here. I'll be happy to put up directions. You can catch the races from 'the other side' of the pond, and not hafta deal with Manch Angeles retail area like you normally would...
They still racing on Crystal Lake in Manch too?
FWIW-About 7 or 8 years ago, they had an 'open' class race on Nutt's Pond. Ever see a GOLDWING racing on ice with studded tires? Un-fuggin'-believable!
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
We're racing in Sturbridge every sunday also, if that's closer for anybody. The gun club's got a big fireplace and a bar.
I think you own a bike, go buy some studs you sally!!!Originally posted by Honclfibr

There are going to have two tracks.
One for fiddys and one for the bigs guys. The big track will about a quarter mile oval and the fiddy track will be a raod course. And course a nice straight away for fiddy stunting.

alright people, here what you need to do.
winter fiddy riding is all about the ice racing. no circle track, but a road course on the ice...it is a blast bc you can actually slide out.
here are essentials: michelin star cross (big knobbies), gold screws (buy them at a dealership-big bag), baby powder for the tube, and possibly a tube liner.
my bro and i are gong to try some canadian ice screws-the kind i will put in my 450 and scrape pegs with-to see how they work. golds are nice, but you DO slide on them a bit...
this setup is a must...weekend ice racing in manchester almost every week...beer, and all the other good stuff associated with fun...however, the naked chicks are hard to come by...that is why we get liquored, i mean warmed, up afterwards!!
do it before the first race!
