PSA indeed. Seems this is fairly common. The deal is you may (or may not) have to back out some of the screws and grind or cut the tips so they don't poke through. I guess it just is what it is. I know what I'm doing tonight.
Yeah, seems like the nature of them not being "manufactured" so much as "built" by a guy in his garage means they don't come ready to rip out of the box.
Either that, or you two both have terrible luck.

Paul contacted Fredette. Apparently they include a cut tube they want you to use between the liner and the inflated tube. My set are 2nd-hand, hence no tube. Instructions were to partially inflate the tube, then tape the cut tube around the outside of that. Then deflate the tube and install. Basically making a extra super duper heavy duty tube.
The screw tips don't poke through that much. I'm sure the extra tube material would be enough.
Jeff V was nice enough to get on the horn with me today and explained that he ID's the trouble screws, backs them out, and then trims them down with a grinder or dremel.
I happen to have a tube I pinched the other day and some time this evening. I plan to do both.
I guess it is just part of the game with these. .. Or yeah, my luck sucks. One of the two.
If you take screws out or back them out make sure the head is the same direction as you found it when you are done. The "indexing" of the screws as the call it is very important to the function of the tire.

I planned to match the pattern on the other lugs. But yes, good call.
Run it back in with some glue too. Cough 5200 cough.

Have a look at this video also. The screws don't just go in straight.

Too late. Job is done. 23 screws pulled, ground, and re-installed. Didn't use glue. Did do the angle thing; I'd seen that video before.
Got the rear half mounted. Are we sure these things are meant for an 18" rim? Eff me that was a lot of work!

Where is this, and how does one go about getting in on it?
