I dont know that answer to your question, but - do you know whose car the piece of metal fell off from? There would be a good case against them for the bike damage, plus your own personal damages (injury, missed work, etc.)

I was pulling left out of my driveway yesterday to got for a quick 20 minute rip and slipped on a @#$@#$ catalytic convertor cover off some assholes' car as I was straightening the bike up.
All cosmetic damage EXCEPT the lockhart no-drill frame slider bracket bent and cracked ny engine case on the right hand side.
I'm on crutches due to a sprained ankle and am in a VERY bad mood.![]()

If you are smart you will drive it to the local wall-mart and leave it on it's side in the parking lot and then call the cops and tell them that someone hit the bike while it was parked... Unless there are long scratches indicating movement.

YES. If you are in a single person accident your rate goes up automactically. I was told this last week by the insurance rep at a hearing.

I was told by an agent that you can fight the points increase if you can prove that the incedent was caused by circumstances out of your control such as inclement weater, but I'm going to have to check that out for myself.
