or are people asking an arm and a leg for bikes on CL right now. I've seen 02 R6's being listed for 5k+ and in horrible condition. Same goes for CBR600rr's... 6k - 7k for an 05', are you kidding me!!!. Are prices just really high because of the weather or is this how its been lately? Haven't shopped around in a few years.

I've been somewhat looking for a little scooter for wifey. Most everything I find is priced above retail right now.

I do think it's that time of year. This is about when I started looking for my sport bike last year. Most prices were completely unreasonable. A couple options ... throw out some fairly lowball offers and wait for them to get reasonable, or just wait.

There have been some very reasonable track bikes on here for decent prices... but that's very different than most street bikes.

What do you guys consider reasonable? I have an 05 R6 I wouldn't expect to get any more than 4500/5000 for. Not that I'm looking to sell... just curious where the market is on things.

As far as scooters... I'd consider anything in great shape in the 1500-2000 range from a reputable brand (Zuma or similar)

like an 05 cbr600 for 7k stock with 25k miles on it. I know its mid summer and peak riding but i feel that a lot of people assume their bikes are worth every cent they put into it or assume they are going to make money when they sell

Is it possible that what used to be a 2500-3000 dollar bike is now becoming the 5000-6000 bike due to the significantly higher initial cost of these "newer" bikes? I remember when I started looking at bikes they cost 7-8k new. Now a lot of bikes are up pretty close to if not over 10k new.

Similar to cars. In 2000 I spent just under 20k on a reasonably well equipped fun to drive econo box. To buy the same type of car today is in the high 20s if not 30k.

Like I said just a thought and point of discussion.

Lack of imports during recession has raised all used bike prices.
There's a lack of 2-5 year inventory. So everything goes up.
Supply and demand.

Its reduced dealer supply....the manufacturers made and imported less over the last few years...

Also, I remember 600's being like 6 or 7 grand..some are double that now.

There seems to be a ton of shitty bikes out there...all rashed up and silly crap paint, bad modifications etc...so the nicer bikes are priced at a premium.

the economy is hurting.... folks with used bikes are keeping them...trying to sell them for crazy money and if someone bites... they will then buy a new bike... Ive seen the same... crazy prices out there... no one wants to give it away...

I only look on CL for bikes under $1,500 so I've got no idea what newer bikes are worth.

Usually prices fall in September.

was looking for either a 04 R1, 05/06 R6 or 07 cbr600rr. The yamaha's are #1 on the list as i really liked my R6. the cbr is second if i find one for a decent price.

yea if i had the extra cash id love a newer bike but unfortunately one of the things that led to the sale of the track bike is also keeping my new bike budget down
