The club of those who haven't put their bike down are going to put their bike down. Without making a long story to boring I was headed home today from work at 5 pm, about a mile from home in my 18 mile ride I was coming up to a red light behind a woman on her cell phone. I briefly looked down to my gauges to check something, looked back up and the woman in front of me looked like she was slamming her brakes. So I instinctively grab mine, but not to hard. Didn't matter, I slid on something on the road with just the front tire which then went out from under the bike, the I went over the left side of the bike onto my left shoulder pretty hard, the bike slid on its left side and into the car ahead of me. I tumbled and spun down the road, ended up lying on my back on the double yellow.
All in all my shoulder is banged up pretty bad. I have a few scrapes from my landing and my neck & back are a bit sore. I've already been to the E.R. but I'm going to my doc tomorrow to request an MRI. My shoulder is killing me and I think it's more than just "bruised up." I was wearing my jacket, gloves, helmet, Army ACU pants & combat boots (which are pretty tough, not even a scratch on them though my legs have the bruises and scrapes to show I went down, kinda like rug burn). My gear saved my ass from some road rash for sure.
Figures to because I was in a bad mood today leaving work & I told myself to take it easy on the way home rather than riding like a jackass to burn off steam, and this is what happens. Oh well. My season is over. The bike is "ride-able" but needs some TLC. Here's to next season.
Figured I would share my story, if for nothing else than to vent. Thanks for reading & please keep it safe out there guys & gals.
Hey your ok so there's that. Sucks that the seasons over but you've got the winter to fix the bike up anyway. Better than going down in April.
very true man. very true. I gave my poor girlfriend a heart attack. I hope she lets me back on the bike again...![]()
Welcome.
lol. You know that won't happen Corey. Btw bro, thanks for coming all the way from Lancaster to Marlboro to help me out. I don't care what some of the less informed folks think on here, not everyone would do that. I appreciated it. And so did Kathy & Kiara.
i've had one get-off on the way to work and one on the way home...i think this work thing is bad for motorcycles

that sucks dude, sorry about your get off, glad you're alright
Sorry to hear about it. Glad you made it out ok. The bike didn't damage the car when it hit it did it?

At least your pretty much ok. See what the MRI reveals. Plus the bike isn't trashed and thats a good thing! Get better soon!
Glad to hear your injuries are only minor buddy... get better soon!
Welcome to the club! And congrats on making a potentially REALLY bad situation just a fairly minor event by wearing the gear!
Hope you heal up quickly!

Good luck with the wing. Sucks but it does happen. Hopefully you can take some positive situational information from it and move forward. Sit down and be honest with yourself and think of ways you could have avoided the accident. I'm not assigning blame, I'm just talking about learning from shitty situations.
Heal up quick!

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
Heal quick man! Glad you came out not too much worse for the wear! Reason number 680 to wear your gear huh?
The bike literally just slid on it's side and bumped the car. I wasn't going fast at all when I went down, just cruising off the throttle in 2nd gear up to a red light. I could have kicked her car harder than my bike hit it.
I was pretty surprised to because I went across the pavement with my knees and my ass a little, not a single hole on the pants.
Very much true. I think back to just a few weeks ago when I would cruise around town from my house to my Dad's or Mom's or something in shorts & a t-shirt...makes me shiver. Never again.
Thanks for everyones support. I'll heal up & fix the bike up and be back on the bike again next season.
Welcome to the club Bro!!
Sit back, heal and go over what happend and study for the next safety test that comes your way.

I think this may be the worst year for NESR member crashes since I joined in 06. (I think I've said that in another thread this season).
Glad your mostly ok. Welcome to the street crash club of 09.
