I hate to say it but this is why I do my own work. Most of the "techs" out there today couldnt tell you a countershaft from their d^(k shaft. Sorry you had such a crappy experience

i said the same thing to my girlfriend, historically i try to fix my own shit and realistically i couldve done it myself but at the time i just didnt have the ability to do it. i just thought i could drop it with a shop and have it be done in a timely manner.
the funny thing is, sunday i got home from work and put in a new stator, chain and a new front master cyl on my girlfriends GSXR in a matter of a couple hours

Half the time I diy because I am chronically cheap.
The other half of the time I diy because I've been burned like this so many times.

Seriously need to find a motorcycle mechanic I can trust. I know I can't do shim-under-bucket valves and I am pretty sure I won't be able to throttle sync this new machine.

shim under bucket is easy. just take out the cams.
theres some math and diagrams but its easily doable

so it appears that the PAIR valve is either stuck or clogged or just plain not working. the tech said that as soon as he detached the breather from the front cylinder the leak stopped. when he hooks it back up it starts leaking again. so we are gonna remove/bypass the PAIR valve and vent it straight to the airbox. ive gotta go get a T fitting to replace the PAIR valve tomorrow and hopefully have my bike back also.

I was going to say that you might want to mention your membership to a regional motorcycle forum in which you credibility with its membership of over 5000 members.

And that have not mentioned the name of their shop, but certainly could if they didn't make things right.

C'mon, how much credibility could I possibly have here?

I'm gonna pick my bike back up from the shop. I opted to do so instead of paying them to dig through and find this problem.

So now I need some input or thoughts on what could be going on.
Like I said before, when the PAIR valve is unplugged from the head the leak stops. This doesn't make any sense since all this valve does is suck in air from the airbox and dump it into the exhaust tract. It makes no contact with the crankcase and is in no way connected to the crankcase breather.

I'm just not sure that removing or bypassing the PAIR valve is gonna fix this, especially since they make block off plates for these. So even if it was clogged how would that be different then putting block off plates on?

Are you taking the mechanics word for it or did you also see this happening? There has to be something installed backwards, a gasket or seal making it pressureized when the PAIR is installed.

Re: ive moved on from being angry....

the PAIR has never been removed or worked on. in fact this is the first time its ever really had any service done.
so yes, im taking the techs word for it that the leak stops when he unplugged it from the head. even if the PAIR was installed backwards which would be impossible all it would do it (theoretically) is put exhaust in the airbox which (theoretically) would just get sucked back into the TBs

the only work he did was remove C/S seal and install new. for all i know it didnt even need a seal and the leak was from whatever is causing it now. but you see a seal leaking, you replace it. this leak has been going on for a while and has progressively gotten worse. it started as the case would have oil and dirt caked on and then it turned into a couple of drops on the ground, then a tiny puddle, then a big puddle. so if this leak was caused by a pressurized crankcase from the beginning then its some sort of clog that has been getting worse for a while now.
