currently i have a joe rocket leather jacket that i need a snorkle to wear (i'm swimming in it) and cheap TourMaster gloves.... leather, but feel like they would probably fall apart if i touched anything other than the handlebars at more than 10mph
I want something that will last most of the year... i have thin glove liners that i can wear under the alpinstar gloves that'll make em alot warmer.... but how's the quality of each? should i spend a little bit more money on something that'll last a LOT longer (the ole "spend money to save money" theory that i'm usually a fan of)
BTW - this is why i wanna get to Brockton & try shit on... and i need to find some pants, too... preferably somethin that'll zip into the jacket... that'd be nice i guess

I wore a Meteor jacket into the ground.
It only lasted about 15k miles.
Randy wore the same one a LOT longer but his standard of the jacket being toast was different then mine.
The temperature range on that jacket is quite good actually. It is definitely a good choice just don't expect it to last as long if you start riding in it a LOT. The main issue is the zipper quality and some of the stitch quality. You will noticed on the more expensive jackets you have better stitching and the zippers are either much larger & beefier plastic, or they are made out of metal. (Metal is ideal) I think the zippers may be improved on these new jackets, but I had tried one on last year and ended up deciding it was worth it to get something more high end.
It would be worth upgrading the armor... the armor that comes in that jacket is not as good as CE or GP armor. Good armor is cheap, it will cost you maybe $40 online for everything except the back protector. You can't get a good back pad that will fit in that jacket, you would basically need to remove the back pad and buy a real back protector.

The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple.

Also, I'd only get a Gore Tex jacket myself.

The difference between gore tex and everything else for these jackets is stunning.
My new jacket is gore-tex. I got it last fall and immediately realized I had no need for the rain coat anymore.
Now this summer I find out it is barely warmer than mesh if you take the liner out.
Amazing stuff!
I still think Gore tex is overkill for raingear though. You might as well pay to have it in your main jacket instead so you can ride through the rain with impunity without having to pull over to change, laughing devilishly at Mother Nature's futile attempts to ruin your day!

The only thing I have to say about team color leathers is that unless you are pretty sure you are going to be riding with Team Green for some time, you might want to think twice before making that kind of investment.
Leathers often last longer than bikes. Just my $.02.

As far as textile jackets go, Dave P. (Karaya One on this forum) had this jacket available recently for $225 and that features Gore Tex, CE protectors, and a removalble liner. I got the Apollo, which has more pockets and a bit more of a touring design for $325 (I think).
Feel free to PM him for closeout deals on everything from Dainese leather pants, to gloves, to textile stuff, etc.

i bought one of those jackets from buykawasaki.com last year to match my EX250. it's lime green and says "NINJA" on the front.then my bike exploded, and now i look like a total tool on any other bike.
decent quality jacket though. the leather is a bit stiffer than what you'd find on more expensive jackets, and i thought the armor was uncomfortable, but i crash tested the jacket and it held up great.
wanna buy mine?![]()
nice jacket... but who the fuck does this guy think he is?!?!?!![]()

I don't know. For comedy's sake you should look at the guy modeling some of their leather jackets...clicky
The Taurus jacket comes in a solid black, so that would match just fine.

Here is another jacket
http://fieldsheer.com/catalog/produc...products_id=43
I have this one and its a great jacket with excellent air flow. I use it all year long because I am to cheap to by a mesh jacket.
I have those gloves. They breath beautifuly and are very good warm weather gloves. The second it gets below 60 deg, they get a little chilly. The seam on the thumb leaves impressions (happens with Nikon's too), but it doesn't rub or bother me. Over all good summer gloves.
