I am sure this has been posted up before, but watch out for deer on your morning commute. I had 4 deer jump out of the woods in front of me on my way in to work this morning. It made for a sphincter tightening moment. I didn't go down , but lets just say someones lawn has some fresh tire tracks.
They move mostly in the morning and night and sit duringing the day. So becareful!!!
yeah they are getting bad....
also coyote and foxes are out this time of year.
I had one damn near jump through the window of my pick up a couple years ago...
for those of us that live around wooded areas... (mostly all, i guess), they put a warning in the paper and on the news within the last week warning about moose too. they are on the move, so keep your eyes open. i wasn't on the bike, but did see a moose about a week and a half to 2 weeks ago on my way to work on 116 just out of bristol.
What?
Deer, Moose, other varmints are everywhere.
You don't even need heavily wooded areas anymore
This did surprise me. I definitely do not want to hit one of these
This is from Windsor CT 10 days ago. about 20 min after I went into the parking lot with the bike

i posted it up on the other board... i t-boned one a couple of thursdays ago going through a corner at night and poof, there it was. little time to react since the highbeam doesn't "look through the corner". it left me with a nice juicy welt on my leg.

Yeah - I had a close call with a huge freakin moose last night. I was taking it easy and had time to stop near him and he didn't even flinch. He looked at me and took his sweet time crossing the rest of the road. And let me tell you, he would have won.
When has a minor detail such as that prevented me from doing something stupid?
Not to mention it's also mating season.
This doesn't just apply to far off wooded lands. I've seen them all over the North Shore: Peabody, Salem, lynn, Saugus, Malden...
Be careful folks, but if you do hit one try and get the head so the rest of us can have some venison jerky. :-)

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
Had 3 of them last night eating apples on my front lawn under the tree not a care in the world.
soccer mom vans driving by beeping horns lights a flashin!
Had to go outside to scare them away in case Jack decided the road to our house may be a good time to practice before this weekends race![]()
I aint no bear-fucker fucker
My friend was unluckly two weeks ago and hit one around 8pm in North Reading 2mi from home. Luckily he was only going around 25mph but endoed over the bars and ended up sore with some slight rash on his side. Bike turned out ok, front fairings and headlight were shot but the bike is still ridable after a few replacement parts.
The animals are moving this time of year. I just had an encounter with a poor red fox while running some errands on the bike.![]()
R1.... +1
red fox... 0
I saw the thing coming and figured I wouldn't change my line like always, the animal would do it's zig zig just before contact and run happily ever after in the woods. I knew that plan failed when I felt the thump thump
It scratched my bike if it makes you amnimule lovers feel any better

A few months ago I hit a deer on 101W around exit 5. I was going about 70 when I hit it. Got lucky that the deer bounced off the grill instead of setting off my airbags or flying up my windshield.

Sheppo, I hit a deer about this time a couple years ago over on Country Rd (next to the Academy) by the transfer station. Bastard came right out of the swamp and t-boned me.
The other day a brown bear ran crossed the road and then came through my yard. Almost got to him with the 30-30, gone before i got back
