Today I visited some motorcycle shops to get a feel for New and Used bikes. I ended up sitting some some sweet Ducati's, Triumphs, and Honda's. Some were way out of my price range and some were well within. Speaking with the people at both locations gave me a great amount of new knowledge and sense of motorcycle riding. The experience I had at both Great Bay and Depot was a memory I won't soon forget. Places like these make most all of the car dealerships I have been to look like trash. Even though I wasn't buying today, That didn't matter. I hope to meet more people like the folks from Great Bay and Depot.

Great BaY was great - until they quoted me above MSRP for a Tiger 800. Some people claim to get deals there but apparently I'm not one of them.
It's 2 minutes for any capable adult.
Rose colored glasses much?

Depot Honda can suck it. If their customer.er service was lacking it would be an improvement. They will never get another dollar from me

Oxx, I've never bought a new bike... but since you work at a dealership do you think every single dealership around the world relies STRICTLY on MSRP and quotes the exact same price for each bike? Or do you think each dealership bases their pricing on that, but also factors in supply and demand, true market value, etc? Do you think maybe MRP is a suggested recommendation from the manufacturer? Or am I totally off base here?
EDIT: OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
SUGGESTED!!!!!!
WWOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!
HOW COULD I HAVE EVER OVERLOOKED THAT!
GOODNESS ME!
HOW SILLY OF ME!
GEE WILLIKERS!
(is the sarcasm starting to be a little more apparent yet?)

I share his grudge. Must be a thing against wee-strom owners, 'cause I got the same deal. Sure, I wasn't the model of the most serious buyer ever ('cause I'm not). But they sure didn't get me excited about the idea.
Is okay, my 'strom does just fine. No pogo'ing front end either.![]()
I'm not what the supply/demand is on a Tiger 800 but what I AM sure of is that market dictates price. Not manufacturers.
It's worth what people are willing to pay. Just cuz one person isn't willing to pay over MSRP doesn't mean the next person coming in behind them isn't. If people are willing to pay 5k over MSRP you better believe a dealership a dealership is gonna quote that much.

So basically no, you have no idea.
It's okay. I didn't really want to buy a new motorcycle anyway. I simply momentarily succumbed to the peer pressure and the "go talk to the guys at Great Bay, they'll take care of you". The experience reminded me how much I liked what I had. ... I guess you could say I walked out a happy non-customer.
Best of luck to the guy that walked in behind me. Hope they made him happy too.
The Tiger 800's were hot back in 2011 and dealers couldn't keep up for a while so they sold for MSRP. Now they're on most showroom floors and a few used here and there if you look hard enough. So dealers are now willing to budge off MSRP.

If this is how neighbors treat each other I could have sworn we are living in Nazi Germany. Then again, people are entitled to opinions right?
^ welcome to NESR. It's how we roll. Wait until winter really starts, then the shots really start flying.
I'm the mayor of Great Bay...
