With the '13 duke 690 and needing new fork seals..ight put some $$ into it
Any Boston areaish shops ? I now GMD closed up shop and. The other go doesn't work on street bikes
hmmmm......
Superbike44 is in Nashua, he supports many of our local racers, track day people, and NESR members.
One walk through his shop and you can tell very quickly this is a meticulous fellow. He did a bang up job on my Multistrada.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
I'm not speaking for Tim although I was at his shop this past weekend and it sounded like he might be applying more focus on racers and dedicated track bikes.
A little late and this probably would not have change where you went but I'll add any. I also feel that no matter how I try to phrase this it aways comes out wrong, but I'll try...
I love road racing and that where I started and that what gets me excited.
Trackday are the next best thing.
I want to hold each job to the standard I've set for myself in those two areas.
I enjoy working on Ohlins, Ktech, Penske and Andreani and am a dealer for all of them. They are all nicely made and I stock parts for them and have the specific tools for them.
Space. Race bikes are about half the size of an adventure bike or cruiser.
I also can not physically put an adventure bike on the lift. My left arm has a steal plate due to a GSW from my time in Iraq.
Dirt. I don't like dirt. I'm a clean freak, which works well when everything must be clean in suspension.
Now, if some one handed me a clean set forks or a shock and wanted me to install a set piston kit or cartridges kit sure. BUT I'd be relying on the data from the company who makes those parts vs what I have learned over 16 or road racing. I'm not going to pretend to know what dirt bikes feel like over whoop dos. There are companies that do that the way I do road race bikes.
Piston kits (400ish)with springs(150-200) are normally around 600- 700 just for the parts, carts with springs are around 615 for Andreani 1600-1700 Ohlins and K-Tech.
With that I can get the set up where I want it, and I can put it on my Dyno, compare it to know good and know the rider can hit the track and be very close. I will see them at the track and help with the last little bit of dialing in.
Street bikes...I can not set a lightweight bike for a heavy rider with only preload or springs. If the spring needs to go up that mich they tend to over power the rebound. Change the oil weight for rider weight is not a real thing. It will induce other unwanted issues. I can show this on the Dyno. Then that bike needs at least piston kit, which has to have specific springs vs a Ktech or Ohlins cart kit that use the same size springs which I stock. If I'm not happy with the sag.when the rider pick ups the bike, I'll swap out the spring. With a piston kit that not possible as the spring are special order. That turns into the "I'm only...fill in the blank...I don't want to spend 2k on my forks" which I completely understand. Fresh suspension is better then 10+ old suspension.
The best way I can relate, expert racers and new riders will say, I wouldn't notice the difference. Yes you will. Have you ever had blown shocks on your car?? Are you a race car driver? Probably not.
Lastly, and if you even made it this far, drop off and pick up. Saturdays 9-12. Each pick up get the sag checked and set. It takes about 30 minutes to go over the bike. Track bikes show up on a trailer, on time. Street bikes will cancel due to weather which makes a scheduling difficult. To bump the delivery for a 3-4k suspension upgrades for a 150 dollar street "setup" that end up cancelling is frustrating for everyone.
It comes down to use, expectations and to me level of commitment. I LOVE working with riders who are looking it gain a a couple tenths, move up a level at a track day, have a new bike set up for them, service a cool old sport bike. If a street rider what's that level of attention and puts in the same level of effort to show up to an appointment great. I just can not make stock suspension act like Ohlins or Ktech for 150 bucks. Now, if they want it serviced THEN set up, we'll... That is a different conversation.

I guess this is a decent time for this question. I have two bikes that will probably need the suspension serviced this fall. Not for mileage but age at this point. I suppose the type of bikes doesnt matter in this situation as they have been both setup already but anyway, one is a 2015 Harley Streetbob. It has GP Suspension cartridges in the forks and Ohlins shocks. The other bike is a 2021 Yamaha Mt07 with Andreani cartridges and a Penske shock. I would be just handing over the suspension and hanging onto the bikes![]()
Well I took a full suspension to tbt racing about a month ago. Let's just say I would tell everyone to stay away.
Racetech is ultimately where I should have taken things. They are local to me in Hartford. I was actually out with the guy yesterday at my neighbor Enduro ride meet up. I know now for next time.
I'm sorry to hear that. FWIW, I've put Andreani in a number of KTMs vs just service the WP stuff, and the riders have been happy. I'd go that route for your bike. Also, Eric Bloc at the KTM deal local to you is a good guy too. He has been at the track longer then I have and his kid RIPS on a KTM Eric set up.
James,
Most companies say annual for race and track or 20 hours, 15k or 3 years for street.
GP Carts although not my first pick are nice to service and an easy company to work with. Seals and bushings would have to be ordered as I normally do not service HD. Your Ohlins shock should not be a problem. Ohlins does offer a few different styles, the Piggy back are great and service like any other Ohlins. I would need the numbers off them to know for sure and would look up the spec card and spare parts list along with the special tool list. When you are ready fill out a contact sheet and I'll look into it more.
The MT-07 falls I to my everyday work. All parts in stock for your forks and the Penske.
I don't normally come in near anymore. If you want to kill a little time, check out the site. There is a contact sheet. It does start at track bike and go up from there. Street is not listed for the reasons above. If you are good with the above please fill out a sheet a few weeks before you are looking to have work done. Turn around is normally 2 weeks. Mention NESRs so I know and we can work from there.

We shall see how you end up. Hopefully I'm just a one off but I don't like there business model...did you drop off the bike or just the suspension?
just the suspension for regular maintenance, no tuning. gave them all my current specs as i love the way they feel. this is for a Beta dirt bike with KYB/Sachs. TBT is connected with the Dussault crew, and a bunch of other racers, which is why i gave them a try.
i would have preferred to ship my stuff back out to Aaron at AMP but time and $$$ would have increased.
