So last night I'm out in the cage running some errands with my son, and we drive past Central Mass Powersports (formerly Sky Cycle). There was a 102.5 FM radio truck there and a crapload of folks on bikes; obviously they're having some kind of shindig. Why wasn't I informed? I bought my ZX-14 from them fer crissakes!![]()
Anyway, anybody go to this? What was the deal?
Hey ZED I was there, They changed ownership and now they are Central Mass Power Sports, yes they are doing that every thursday from 6-8, I was going to post up last night about it but figured I would check it out first, Something weird about this area, I was the only person there that atleast had a jacket on, I felt like a retard..... I'm the only one in my friends that wear gear, they bust my balls all the time about hot nuts I am wearing a jacket in the heat..
That place better of gone through some serious changes, it sucked balls when it was Sky for the last ten or so years. Before that, they seemed pretty decent.

Why, Them not wearing gear is not going to hurt me.. To each there own, I don't care much what others do, pluse I've been friends with a couple from before our biker days.. There not squids they don't ride like asshats, we go out for coffe at night and ride around town, they enver go out to the twisties..
Joe, next time you go let me know. I might be down to check it out
Well CLay, I talked to the new Manager a couple weeks ago, and he said they are going with a new philosophy because they heard epople did not like the prev ones used by SKY, He said they replaced the whole sales staff and most of the service staff, although the parts department is the same for the most part, other then some chick that works in there that is SMOKIN... I thought there previous sales team sucks ass...
Plan on next week Billyboy...
Yeah I was aware of the ownership change; I've bought bikes from Sky when Fred owned it and had always been plenty satisfied. I bought my ZX-14 from Wayne, the manager there now. Haven't met the new owner yet though.
I know what you mean about being a gear-wearing minority. I almost never see anyone wearing a riding jacket and gloves but I do 99% of the time. On rare occaision, like if I'm just running down to taco bell for take out, I'll only throw on my helmet but if I'm going on any sort of actual ride I'll be in FF helmet, one of my 3 jackets, gloves, boots. I'll admit to often riding in jeans but never shorts. I do have both leather and mesh riding pants that I often wear too though.
Thursdays are bad for me but perhaps I'll make it there one of these weeks.
Yeah somehting about this area, I often ridin in jeans, I need a new mesh jacket for the hot days though the leather is a little much on a day like yesterday.. Let me know if you go next week Zed, pm me or throw up a thread, I'll look for you, and let me know if you ever want to go to bike night in lowell, I go right through Lunenburg on my way, and know a few nice back roads up there..
I don't think it's just this area... seems like a universal constant to me. I've ridden every state in the East as far down as PA (going to Virginia soon! woot!), and I've come to the conclusion that as a general rule, nobody but we few aliens wears any gear anywhere, ever.
So just know that you aren't the only one in the Fitchburg area that wears gear; both my wife and I are pretty religious about this. I may sin on the very rare, short ride, but my wife never rides without all her gear. She'll make the exception for jeans too, but she has an excuse - it is impossible to find riding pants for a slender, very tall girl.
I skipped on the gear a couple of times when others have commented on it. No more. My bro. and Dad are Harley riders, "You'll be hot in that jacket...". Oh well, guess I'll be hot.
Love my rev'it textile jacket, lets the air right through, and it's half of my rain gear, with the liner added. Had a new tires/u-turn slip up, touched the fog line and whoops, there goes my bike. Slid about 15 feet on my chest. Not a mark on the jacket. Some minor scrapes on the gloves, but that way I won't forget. Jeans just disintegrated, and scaped up my knee, so I've picked up some Joe Rocket pants. If I left my shirt on the road, like I left the knees of my jeans, I'd be looking for some new nipples on ebay right now.
On the street, I agree, only some of us are wearing the gear. On the net it's all about ATGATT. I think seeing something stupid in print like "Those heavy helmets break necks," alows one to see the lack of logic in such statements.I don't think it's just this area... seems like a universal constant to me.
J14 I'm with you on riding with whoever in/on whatever. Long as no one's riding into me... If you know each other from before it's a real no-brainer.
