Question, how important are armored gloves? also, anyone here going to Tony's track day on July 16th? It will be my first track day. I am feeling somewhat anxious about it. A lot has to do with the bike, I am riding a 2007 R1. I will need to show it a lot of respect it's bigger than me..

I got the suit at motorcyclecloseouts.com for just under $330, shipped. (direct link to the suit: Teknic Chicane 1 Piece Race Suit - Closeout Price: $299.99! In stock NOW! Why pay list price of $529.99?) It fits great with the back and chest protectors. Yes, it is my first suit and I really got lucky with the fit, since I have a long torso.

As far as gloves go, you want something that will be able to handle the impact of a crash, but also be able to sustain a slide, since you don't stop on a dime when you fall off at 40mph. Details to look for, good knuckle protection, internal stitching on parts like the fingers (this avoids the stitching getting frayed during a slide), COMFORT, double layering where a slide might occur.

The ones in the picture of me are Moto GP Nitrous. Decent gloves, good protection, decent price if you can find them now, since they are discontinued.

Just Google motorcycle race glove reviews to find out more.

You mean where it's so tight that it makes your middle fingers pop out of a tightly packed fist?

My wife wanted to see my new suit fit, so she I HAD to slide into it once again. Only this time (after Denno's suggestion), I removed the CE back protector that came with the suit. The first time I tried it on, I had BOTH the CE and the Knox hard back protectors in and it was a tight fit. It was MUCH better. Felt great when I sat on the bike.

    Yeah, she snapped a picture...

I was serious. I had bought this suit on-line, and it is way to tight to perfrom corectly. You do not want a suit to be so lose it bunches, thats where it will tear in a get off, but you have to have mobility.

    Re: Leathers: the Fit..?

Ok good that is what I thought.

So, I broke down and headed off to Vanson after a friend told me they had new and used suits on a clearance rack that were less expansive and a fully custom suit. I was excited when i saw how many suits they had and how much they cost, between 600 and 1100. However, I was disappointed when they did not have a 44 for me. Anyway, having always loved Vanson leather, I ended up getting a new suit size 44. I tried one on for size and it felt great. needless to say, I am another 1400 bucks in the hole. But I am happy to say, my search is over and I am sure I will have this suit for a long long time.

They have a lot of used suits in the back, and on the rack, that they have lent out for whatever reason. They range from 600-800. I would be wearing one of the used ones now if they had a 44. If you are looking for a suit, go there.

You will want armored gloves for a trackday. Now do you own full gauntlet style gloves?? The ones that go up onto you arm? not just the shorties? If you dont get some!

If you're doing a Tony's Track Day, gauntlet style gloves are required:
