You enjoy riding...plan on riding as long as you possibly can?
What if you could buy a bike and have it last forever? Would you pay extra for it?
Good for one crash????? Than you gotta buy another one!
That would put you up in the price of the more expensive suit you should have bought in the first place!
Just like in helmets...how much is your head worth TO YOU?
Pay for a good suit now, or skin grafts later?
These are all the questions a I am asking myself now as I have been looking at leather. One problem for me anyways is size.
Order from a catalog, and if it don't fit, you send it back and it costs postage both ways and a 10% restocking fee!!!!!!!
Brokton Cycles has some awsome deals on Joe Rocket right now Joe! $399.00 for a two piece High Side.
I have also tried Dianese...nice...about $1000.00 for a good two piece. And then I went to Vanson...Awsome...the are having an Open House starting April 22nd. I plan on investing in Amercan made! There are some benefits to the Vanson that I like...but I usually spend money like an asshole when it comes to the stuff I like. Can't take it with ya you know. If it is going to last A lifetime........?And you get to see what you are buying without paying a premium if you don't like it or it simply does not fit! That really pisses me off!!!Like if I order a suit thru a mail order catalog, I'LL BUY IT IF I LIKE IT AND MOST IMPORTANT IF IT FITS! But why should I have to pay a restocking fee? Postage yes. But different manufacturers have different fits. Just like boots. I have to try several size nines on berfore one fits right.

my Joe Rocket textile gear held up like a champ 'til the scissors came out.
The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple.
I hear ya there trackdog ...I am going through that right now...I need to get full gear to start my racing career..Originally posted by trackdog

As I will be going to the track I plan on getting a little better quality leathers because I have a feeling they will get *tested* fairly often..but If i was just looking for full gear for the street I might sacrifice quality for bang for the buck...as in I'll take the chance in buying a little cheaper leathers that will hold up in one crash but might not work for a second or third and I might have to buy a new pair...and at that point I would pony up for the Vansons..or =. As far as helmets...my race team has convinced me that you don't need to spend $500 on a helemt(they use HJC and between the 3 of them have wrecked around 20+ times all without incident). Your quote "how much is your head worth TO YOU?" I used to say that before...and all I would get was the high $$ helmets. But helemts are only good for one crash no matter how much you spend on them.

After looking at all the other LEATHER; I would agree, but that is by camparison only....there could an argument. My Joe Rocket nylon jacket and pants have held up OK FOR THE PRICE! Including one small "get off". I have to say I've been happy thus far. But I still feel that the Vanson will give me piece of mind especially for the long haul. And I guess that is what I am paying for....Buy American....when it is of quality...and Vanson is.Joe Rocket = crap
As far as Helmets...I don't need a Duhamel replica...but a good helmet(DOT/SNELL) and comfort and weight is a factor are determing factors for me, not price.

If you read the collar of the jacket you will notice the name of the company that makes it.Originally posted by Green Hornet
well considering that they don't want you to know who makes it ... I'd skip this over.
This looks like one of those cheap leathers made in Pakistan or elsewhere...
I'd look for a known brand from a reputable dealer.
GP STAR
This jacket is actually a reputable company that manufactures their jackets here in the US. I almost bought a jacket from them until I found out that they won't sell to you direct until you first call all of their distributors near you and on the internet to find out that no one else carries it.
For what it's worth, I bought a Death Rage jacket and I love it.
Death Rage
The Joe Rocket jackets looked a bit too cheesy for my taste.
