    Legal/title question.

So i have a friend who runs a small atv/snowmobile parts business. A few months ago he bought the contents of a building that used to house a motorcycle/snowmobile sales and repair business. Included in the contents was an almosg new bike that the previous business had repo'd. He has no title for the bike. I could buy said bike for a sweet price with no title. Is there any to get a title for it in NH?

    My understanding:

If the bike was repo'd was the previous business a lienholder on the bike? That would allow someone who used to own the business to get a duplicate copy of the title.

You can attempt to find the owner of the bike by having a cop run the vin and see who owned it last, but if it was repo'd and the title is still in their name you're probably out of luck.

Maybe have your friend do a storage lein and wait I think 60 days?

I think the normal process is the shop that originally held on to the bike would have to file a mechanic's lean, and from there can get ownership. Now that the shop has changed hands I've no idea how the process works.

storage lein works the same way as mechanics... I think thats the best way to go, but it's a waiting game, and the actual owner could come get it. If the title is purely in his name then you lose...
