My 9R has 26,000+ miles and I'm still using the original chain. The bikes I had prior to this one were either shafties or I sold them before wearing out the chain so I have no idea how long the chain will last. This bike's a keeper.
I run the chain on the loose side and keep it clean and lubed. Seems to be fine but I wonder if it's about to fail catastrophically or something. How do you tell when it's time to change it?
most times the chain will kink have a tight spot somewhere on the chain. I would say If its maintained properly you could get 30K out of a set no problem.

26k is awesome milage for a chain.. before I installed my scottoiler, I was getting about 15k. afterward about 30-35k. before the front sprocket wears and the rear & chain still look good but I replace em anyway.
