Resourcefulness!
Why you taking it apart Jeff?
I feel like the ladder thing is really common. I've done it with a much cheaper, more rickety ladder although I do own a similar one now.

As I said before Jeff, I would be scared shitless to torque anything down. It worked so more power to you.![]()

Any port in a storm, good ingenuity.
I have a small crane I built for lifting a bike, kind of like those pipe frame ones people make, but I made my uprights out of 3" square tubing and the cross bar from 3" c-channel. There's a cable winch on the cross bar for lifting. It will lift an entire bike (and/or your subaru). Anyway, if anyone ever wants to borrow it, feel free. It breaks down fairly decent, will fit in a wagon, but weighs a bunch.
Actually, it worked, but wasn't that great. The ladder was always in the way for nearly everything I wanted to do. Getting the front wheel off or loosening the fork caps was a pain because there was no clearance to turn a wrench.
Couple days later I bought some eye-hooks and started hanging it from a joist in the ceiling instead:
Works much better.
Although this is a little hairy with both wheels off. You'll note that there is room to knock the machine forward and off the center stand, which would be bad. It is way more stable with the rear wheel on. Keep the kids and dogs away when in this condition.
Yes. Exactly that cheap, possibly even cheaper.
I do not see the value. YMMV.
+1. Doesn't have to be $300, how about less than $80 delivered... Way safer especially if kids are around!!

To be clear, I do not have children.
I do have kids thats why I dont have money for shit! 3 kids a dog and a wife. Damn, im lucky to have a cool wife that understands my passion for riding. Anyone wanna buy me stands? my kids are great. They know what off limits mean...
Most people will give up a few hours of effort and creativity to get the same result for a lot cheaper.
That being said, I have a Woodcraft front stand, but for the rear stand, my $26 Harbor Freight works mint.
I also find that the front stand is useless when doing any work that involves the triple tree, so I hang the bike from a steel I beam in my basement.

I had my CB450 held up by some 2x4 under the engine, then one long 2x4 propped at an angle underneath the headtube. THAT was sketchy.
