First thing that I though of after reading Snake's crash post was that you can be a fantastic rider, fast, slow, touring, puck-dragging, etc...at some point you are going to crash. I'm very happy that Jake is not worse off, though he could have been without good gear.
I think about crashing all the time to be honest, of course, I have a few learning experiences under my belt. So I hit up STG tonight, and Brian (as always) has a great new armor vid up, so I thought I'd pass it on. Especially with all the new chicks and dudes we have on the forum with new bikes...and for you old bastids that might need a refresher.
I'm going to be throwing down for the A* Bionic chest protectors for my MX-1 suit, and a set of the Bohn protective shorts, and thinking about a new Back Protector...be safe peeps.

just bought a bohn pro racer back protector to complete everything I need for the track... with all these crash (and successful recovery due to gear) stories, I made some more additions to my gear. best insurance you can get imo.

Good thread!!!!!
The 1st ER Dr. said that the back protector is probably the only reason I cam still walk, although she was probably being a bit over-dramatic.
It was a Teknic 13pad deal.
Arai Quantum II helmet(bought new this spring)
Teknic perfed leather jacket
Cortec leather riding pants
Held Akira gloves
Under Armour compression shorts
Oxtar TI/SS boots.
The only place that I bled(externally) is my left thumb where the nail got slightly separated.
It looks like the only thing I'm going to have to replace is the helmet. Regards, Jake

glad to hear you were well protected, bro. Man, it sucks to hear about the crash, though
BTW, if anyone's interested in a custom fit chest/back protector, a lot of the TTD guys have the Impact Armor set-up and I'm no exception... It's extremely comfortable & the protection has been phenomenal so far.
His website sucks, but the product is amazing. Just look at his client list.

I picked up one of those A* Bionic chest/back protector combos for the track. haven't worn it much yet, but i can say this about it...it is bulky as hell and kind of a tight fit to cram in the leathers. seems like it would stop a tank though.
...and yes even the best of us fall down. sometimes it's a spectacular highside in the twisties, sometimes it's moronic left turning car, and sometimes your tire just deflates during a highway run.
please folks, wear your gear.
