So I have a pretty good deal on a bike, but it's down in Northern NJ. Right now I have no means of transporting the bike back up here unless I ride it back. Obviously due to the temperature, riding 4 hours in 20 degree weather would be pretty unbearable. I'm pretty sure this is the bike I want, but I have to hold out until late March/early April (when it gets a little warmer) before I can get the bike. It may not last long, which is why I am asking.
I know this is a long shot, but why not try.

btw. another option may be to borrow a trailer from you guys, but I would have to convince my brother to install a hitch...or can you rent something like that from Uhaul? I don't know...anyone have any other options? Include the cost of that option as well. Thanks!
do you have a hitch?
if not they are usually around $100
Uhaul will rent you a trailer fairly cheap..especially an open trailer.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

^ yep.
I think some of the bigger Uhaul places will actually install a trailer hitch for you (if you're trusting), as well as rent you the trailer at a small discount (I think).
I live in peabody, MA. If you need a truck I have one for you to borrow. Just let me know.
You have a PM.
you can rent pickup trucks from UHaul, and im pretty sure Home Depot has them too...
Just PM'd you!
I guess this might just happen sooner rather than later. If I can get a truck that will carry a bike...does anyone have the straps to hold it down? Or what else I need?
Just want to make sure I have everything covered. Thanks again guys! I appreciate the fact that you guys are helping me get back on a bike by Spring. I hope everything works out.
I have a trailer you can use

Now I just need to get my bro or father to install a hitch. Are hitches universal? How much does something like this cost?
*** EDIT ***
Just read a previous post. So a hitch costs $100...is installation difficult? I obviously still have to convince my bro or dad to let me install one, but I don't know if they'll agree to it.
I just spoke with the guy selling the bike and it looks like he has a few people interested in the bike...now I'm getting worried that I won't be able to set everything up in time.
Or....you could rent a moving truck from Uhaul (not the big ones, but not the small van either) and just roll up the bike in it...lol The money you're gonna pay just to buy and install the hitch, plus gas, will cost you more than just renting a moving truck and pay for gas.

+1 twistie
just a regular high cube box van will hold a couple of bikes. if it doesn't already have one .... use a 2x12 plank as a ramp. plenty of holes or rails on the sides of those things for straps both fore and aft. 49.00 non local for the day ....19.95 local

All you need is tie down straps that you can buy from home depot. I would also suggest bar/clip on straps that you can hook the straps to so you dont ruin your grips or frame.

Yeah, I know. I will only go with what he is offering right now because of the fact I will be spending close to a couple hundred just to get it back up here.
It looks like Hammadown and I will be making a trip next Sunday...if all goes well that is. Thanks again Jeff and everyone who has offered. I am so damn excited about getting a bike again even though it'll deplete my funds again. I think I'll be able to deal with drinking a whole lot of water and living on pasta.
I had Uhaul instal a hitch on my car & wire it for a trailer for about 150-200 bucks. Harbor Freight folding trailer for about 300 shipped.
but somethin tells me that option wouldn't happen before Sunday.
Yeah, I say find a friend w/ a pick-up or trailer.
If worst comes to worst & you can't find anyone I could be persueded into hitchin up my trailer & goin down there w/ ya provided you pay for gas & buy me dinner![]()

A member is going to loan me his truck and he has a ramp and straps already. If I need more, I'll definitely contact you. Thanks Steve!
I waited FOREVER at my bank earlier today to look into a loan. I ended up leaving because I had to get back to work for a meeting. Try again tomorrow I guess...

UHaul or Home depot rental is the worst idea. They charge you per mile in addition to the daily fee. Ive moved a few times and rented trucks, so I know.
He's going to take my truck. Also if anybody else needs to pick something up or take a bike anywhere just let me know.
