ok. so I need to bore out the bolt holes on the lower mount of my brandy new Penske shock.
The mounting hole on the linkage is 12mm, the Penske opening is 10mm.
any suggestions?
It will need to be bored out to 31/64" or .485 "
Sounds to me like the brandy new penske shock is the wrong one. I could be wrong but I would at least check that out before you drill it out.
ordered right from Mr. Kates.
Like I said I am probably wrong. Just sounded weird that a company like Penske would ship a shock that requires boring to be installed. Carry on.
yeah. i know.
but apparently this is what is done on the ex500's.

i'll post a pic when I get home later
Peter is going to have Penske drop-ship me the clevis with the 12mm hole
cool...
Let me know if you want to bring it over... I'd have to order a reamer from McMaster, but they ship from IL, so it usually arrives next day. Not sure if you'd need it sooner.
I'm sure any machine shop could handle it. They'll likely just use a boring bar on the lathe, which would be fine, but isn't likely to give you the accuracy of a reamed hole (not likely to matter much, though, given the tolerances are probably +/- .001). They could easily pull it off. The available reamers are 31/64, .4845 and .4850 (tolerances is +.0002).
thanks!
if they can't get one to me, i'll let you know
