Anyone been to Daytona for bike week? Any recommendations for things to see or avoid? Going to be there for a few days with a bike this year, figure it'll be a shitshow but I should probably see it once in my life.
Have you been the Weirs for bike week? its all that times 10! Shark lounge if its still there? I may be dating myself... lol Are they even having it? Canceled last years but it is Florida so? Ocean Deck!!! Have fun...

Haha yeah it’s a go! Looking forward to the people watching most of all.

I went in 1999 and there were tits everywhere. It was truly wild and loads of fun. I went again in 2002 and it had become pedestrian. Cops were cracking down on everything. I never went back. Hopefully it has gone back to the wilder side but I seriously doubt it.
At least the weather will be better than being in New England.

Caught the tail end of it last year with my dad while my family was in florida for a quick disney trip. The most memorable thing was being about to ride out with my dad from his house on his Harley and ride to daytona speedway with him.
Otherwise it was pretty lame. There was an event a the big harley dealer there which consisted of groups rolling in on insanely beautiful custom baggers, but then became a dick swinging contest to see who had the louder pipes and stereo. After that we ended up riding through Daytona up and down the strip which sucked balls as well. bumper to bumper traffic on a air cooled bike is not enjoyable.
then we took a ride to the other side of town for the "black bike week" crowd same fuckery but at least the music was better here.
All in all, reaffirmed that i hate large groups of people
I've been to Daytona. I went to escape winter and get a ride in early. Had the bike shipped and flew down. Stayed in The Shores and also in the Hilton. Met Willie G and Bill Davidson at breakfast at the Hilton. Good times...
The legendary Loop (google it) Route A1A up and down the coast are worth the trip once. Of course there was no plague back then so stopping at a restaurant or going the Destination Daytona, Full Throttle Saloon was an easy thing. The bands playing nightly are worth the trip. POST COVID I would wait.
Send cash... I need a track day
Keeping in mind Covid and your personal risk tolerance
Main St - people/bike watching
Lollipops - If that is your type of thing
Supercross - should be there the start of bike week at the speedway (it usually is)
Flat track racing - where ever it happens to be - they moved it to a short track at the speedway a few years back
Road racing - at the speedway
Ocean Deck - if that is your sort of thing
Razzles - if that is your sort of thing
Riding towards the middle of the state out through the Ocala National Forest
Orlando is a relatively short ride away if the theme parks interest you at all
Cape Canaveral is a relatively short ride south of Daytona
Might be the usual coleslaw wresting at New Smyrna Speedway

Welp, glad I went. Don't need to go again. Florida is another planet....
