Started my new bike shopping and have found a few cbr f4's. Anywhere from 1999- 2001. Is there any major differences in the model years during that time frame? Anything to stay away from?
If you referring to just F4's, then I think the only difference between the 1999 and 2000 models were the paint jobs available.
If you were referring to 1999, 2000, and 2001 model, yes there were changes.
1999-2000 = F4 (carburated)
2001-2003 = F4i (fuel injected)
There were big changes between the 1998 F3's and the 1999 F4's. Between the F4's and F4i's, it was mainly the addition of fuel injection. Aside from that, there were a host of stylistic changes. The front ends look rather different. The F4i's have a split seat, versus the more comfortable F4 banana seat. The F4i injection is rather abrupt (for FI bikes) though it makes it easy to screw with (PCIII vs a Jet Kit).
Oh, yeah. The only real thing I would watch out for is a noisy CCT. That's pretty common on F4i's, and I'd assume F4's also.
thanks. I am looking at the 2000's, so the non- Fuel injected.
Excuse my ignorance but what is a CCT?
Cam Chain Tensioner.. It's been a Honda thing for years... Dont pay it too much mind.. If it goes bad.. 100 dollars and two 10mm bolts and things are good...
