i am 6'4" 220lbs. i sat on my buddy's duc the other day and it became apparent that my superhawk is the only thing i know of that i can ride and not make it look like a fucking moped. is there a good large sportbike out there that is not a drag machine (zx-14, busa). i sat on every liter bike i could find in my local dealer and none fit like the VTR. Aprilla, MV, the new buell, any of these? let me know
Why exclude the ZX-14 and busa? They are far more than just dragbikes.

Have you tried a VFR? I'm 6'2", 230 and my VFR fits well, its a nice riding position. You might have to look at older models with bigger frames, how about a mid 90's CBR 1000 or ninja 900?
I piss excellence!
I had a CBR1100xx (Blackbird). I'm a pretty big guy and it was a good fit.
Also, the Multi I ride now is excellent and I don't look like I'm humping a moped...

My Buell 1125R is plenty roomy for me... 6' 200lbs... I know your bigger, but go sit on one, unless you have already

There's someone selling a TL-R here
Those are nice and beefy
i have sat on a new GSX-r 1000, little small. i have not ridden a busa or zx-14 but they look a little big to go hit the twisties with. if i am wrong on the busa or zx-14 someone let me know. the TL-R is in the same class as the bike i ride now (i affectionally call it japducknockoff) with the v-twin sport bike. i guess i will have to go waste a dealers time. anyone know a scumbag dealer that i can talk to for a couple of hours with no intention of buying anything. i don't want to waste the time of an honest dealer.

Hey Mark, I think we need to show him how well these things really do handle. Granted they do not handle as well as a 600, they are still plenty quick in the twisties, and the best part is you only have to switch between 2 and 3rd gear on one of these bikes rather then 2-6th.
.............the boss hoss?...do u like V-8`s?....
Friends selling an 03 zx-12r, he's 6'7" around the same weight and was very confortable on it. the 12r screws and is still a blast in the twisties, and on the track. I had 2 and I loved them. It's in Haverhill if you want to throw a leg over it.

+1 The zx-14 is a beautiful bike, though not as light as the 600's due to the extra weight on her but they still handle very well. Kawa really shined with the newer Ninja's. I would love one myself since I'm in the market for a new bike but I think I'm gonna go for another ZZR 600.
You can't have a bike that's both large and comfortable and small and track-twitchy. Seems like an obvious contradiction, no?
That said, the ZX-14 and 'busa are IMO the absolute best all around performance-oriented street bikes made, by anyone, at any price. They are large enough to be comfortable, with acceptable seats, heavy and long enough to be stable and confident on the highway, powerful enough to absolutely blow your mind, versatile and capable enough to hang hard luggage on and tour the country, and still nimble enough to be fun within the limits of anything you can or should be doing on public roads.
If a 14 can't get you around a corner on any public road in this country fast enough, you seriously need to get off the street and take it to a track.
That said, the 14 and 'busa are a bit cramped for legroom. I'm 6'1", 200#, with a 33" inseam and I'm reasonably comfy on my ZX-14, but my other bike - a ZZR1200 - is even more comfortable.

i stand corrected on the zx-14 and i had a chance to ride one this weekend on martha's vineyard where the streets are narrow and twisty and the difference in handling between it and the hawk would only be in the extreem situations i never put myself in. btw that bike is fucking insane for acceleration. maybe in my future to have one
zx14 and busa fit big people well, but might not not be the best starting bike. im 6 3 about 200-210 and i feel just fine on my r1
