Heads up State Farm motorcycle policy holders...

...your motorcycle insurance (at the very least) is going to jump quite considerably come March-ish 2010, least that's what I was told.

Lemme paint a picture for you:

2003 Yamaha FZ1 - about $62/ mo for full coverage, year after year.

2008 Yamaha FZ1 - was quoted at $67/ mo for full coverage back in September, it's now going to be $102/ mo for a new policy under the new guidlines that State Farm has come up with.

Seems they're losing money on totaled machines so rather than working with their very own customers to help alleviate the issue, their answer is to raise rates across the board and continue to total machines which aren't necessarily totaled.

    Time to start shopping.

It's probably because it's less than 3 years old. That's how it is here with my Ducs. Where I am an insurance quote doesn't mean anything. They have been way off on all my quotes since last year. They always under quote me, then I find out later when I get my bill. I think they figure you will just suck it up and pay it.

State farm hasnt called me, i'm not worried. RI has a insurance board that sets rates, plus i turn 25 in march, PLUS i just customized a policy with them PLUS my family has been with them 20+ years with only minor claimes

just as an FYI....I realize this a shameless plug but for anyone in NH we might be able to help you. We have a couple of carriers that are really putting together some nice packages that include coverage for toys such as motorcycles, boats, etc. Give us a call. Ask for Barbara or Edwina....603 673-1201 or visit www.Holt411.com. You can mention this post to them.

I'm working on writing business in Massachusetts so in time we can do that as well.

Mods..if you feel this is an inappropriate offer feel free to delete.

    Thanks

    Lyle

amica was 700$ a year for full coverage on my cbr....you should check them out. Progressive was like 3000$ for full and like 200$ without collision.

Not at all. Bought the 2003 brand new way back when and have been paying about the same ever since. I'm gonna go with what my agent told me.

They likely won't. Not sure if RI is going to be different but I heard the words "across the board" so hold tight and wait for March-ish.

    Wirelessly posted (Instinct: Mozilla/4.1 (U; BREW 3.1.5; en-US; Teleca/Q05A/INT))

You would think that the higher quote would be for people with no training or experience

State farm gave me the best coverage out of any insurance company available. I would not go anywhere else AT ALL. They are lower then every other provider by about 2k, and my coverage limits are at least double if not 4x higher then every other company i looked into.

+1 but they no longer accept new customers in MA.

I only have them because I've always had them (and my family has for 50 years or so)
