as stated i lost my only key to my sv... of course right before the classic. whats my best plan of attack? dealer needs me to pull the ignition on the chance of a key code being stamped. locksmith in my area that can make keys from locks will be atleast a week to have time. i was going to just jump the ignition but then i remembered ill probably need some gas and thetank is keyed as well. Looks like you are going to have to jump the ignition and screwdriver the gas cap

Did you try to call a different locksmith?

What about getting a few guys to lift it up and bring it to the classic?
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

I don't know about an SV, so this post may be next to useless, but i do know of people who thought the same on certain Yamahas only to break the ignition bolts, pull it apart, and find nothing. Doesn't sound from your posts that you're about to tear things open without doing a little research, but just wanted to throw that out there in case you've got a sledgehammer in your hand already.
Have some local friends with SVs? see if their key opens your gas tank (I know a few hondas that will open using a bunch of different honda keys)
thats exactly what i'm afraid of

A good locksmith should easily be able to pop the gas tank. Most of them carry a lockpick set (at least the one that I knew did).

The local locksmith to me was able to make a key in his van in about 10 minutes after wiggling a blank in the ignition a couple times. One more tweak in the van and it worked on the gas cap as well. Call around, you'll end up paying for the service but someone will be able to help.
you must have some magicians in maine cause i just got off the phone with a really reputable smith and he said im most likely lookin at a 200 dolla tear down for him to make a key blind...and hes got like a week back up
