Any thoughts/comparisons between these boots? SMS 5 is ~ half the price of the other two. I don't care about squeakiness; more concerned with comfort, protection, durability.

The only thing I can fault the Supertech R boots for are the lack of wrap-around that the toe slider provides for those of us who like to drag their toes. Sidi boots have longer sliders that screw on, unlike the Supertech, which just snaps on (and can be pulled off by tarmac, ask me how I know).
Supertechs...
that is all
Anyone that genuinely suggest the other two, clearly doesn't/hasn't owned Supertechs.

What's the difference between a bolt and a screw?
First you screw, then you bolt.
Hence the question![]()

I only have a roundabout answer, and that is, I bought Sidi Cobras (about equivalent to SMX-5s protection-wise) because the truth is I ride street and I have to walk around in them off the bike, so I was willing to trade support/protection for comfort. As my skills have progressed I'm starting to feel like they aren't enough and I wish I had spent the money on sturdier boots. If I were racing, I'd go with the Supertechs. I wouldn't skimp.

Uhh....the supertechs are more comfortable than the smx5 and provide more protection...
I teach msf all day while wearing these so comfort was a big factor.

I was not a fan of SuperTechs until I had a pair given to me...Love them!!
The older I get the Faster I wuz
I bit the bullet on the black/red 'techs. After hitting "submit order," I was told they run a size big...I ordered a 42, when perhaps I should've ordered a 43. We'll see.

Whatever the appropriate word is, I possibly should've gotten the next size numerically higher.

A man of many names...Jay, Gennaro, Gerry, etc.
Supertechs kept my leg attached and helped it break in a "reasonable" location. They work, they're well worth the money and they're as comfortable as a track boot can get.

Love my Supertechs Rs. On my 2nd pair.
Had the SMX+ a while back. Liked em a lot, but nowhere near as much as my Supertechs. SO much better than the SMX's. No rusty eyelets causing broken laces, no damn squeaking, two piece construction, more comfort, better protection...
I'll let you try on my 43's in NY if you're going.

size 9-9.5 foot =43
It has a nice wide foot bed for the flippers.
Never had any problem with the eyelets and laces giving up on me.

Very good to know. I had a nasty double ankle break last year (not on track) which I wish to not repeat. As an aside, come say hello at the RSP/Pirelli garage during the classic.
I am notI have been assigned to other activities this weekend. But it matters not, since I already place the order.
Comforting... I'm 8.5-9 depending on the shoe, so maybe these will be OK.

I'd go with a 42 if you are a small foot.
