it's Google's web based email service, which is quite different from other web based emails (yahoo, hotmail, etc). currentlly the only way to get an account is via invite. there are a number of people who say it's wak (for various reasons) and other who think it's just gosh-darn-dreamy. i'm not advocating one way or the other. people can make up their own minds.
