Subject: NVSC: Another rider down story
My nephew just bought a new Kawi ZX636 and went down yesterday. I am =
posting this because there is an immediate recall related to the cause of this accident= . So if any of you have one or know someone who has one =
of these bikes; don't ride it until it is fixed. Apparently the muffler =
can break loose when riding, causing the tailpipe/muffler to jam into =
either the ground or the rear tire. This is what happened and it caused =
the bike to polevault end over end. Luckly, my young nephew has only =
minor injuries, but the bike is totalled with only 450 miles on the =
clock. Another lucky thing happened, which is the whole accident =
occurred in front of a security camera which recorded the whole =
accident, seemingly proving (until lawyers get involved) no wrongdoing =
on his part.
And oh, here's the kicker: The recall notice came in the mail 2 hours =
after the accident.
Anyway, I'm just trying to get the word out about this recall.

Pdog
I think you missed the point, Kham.![]()
i get it. just got a recall letter. little late but..
i put almost 5k on the 636. god i missed it.
"fuckit!"
ok I will say it.... Kham didn't a muffler fall off your motorcycle causing you to crash?
any ambulance chasers out there?
2001 RC51!!!
2007 Husky SMR 510 - no longer... blown tranny
maybe i dont get it. no my muffler didn't fall off. i got lucky? well not really.
"fuckit!"
You crashed and if I remember correctly you don't understand why. If you could prove that it was in any way related to a faulty exhaust component (which has since been recalled) then Kawasaki could be held responsible for the dammage. I would not consider this ambulance chasing if this was the actual cause for the crash.
Ahhh young grasshopper is slow learner....![]()

"hey Randy, do a wheelie!!"
As long as you get the general idea.
Are you SURE it wasn't the problem, for real?

you know the problem with me is just that IAM TOO HONEST. i have never done anything like this. can't you tell?
"fuckit!"
Legalspeed is right...
Do you know for a fact that this recall issue did not cause your crash?
Right now this has nothing to do with being honest or not...the reason for the recall is due to the exhaust falling into the bike...obviously in order for them to issue a recall it has to have happened on lots of bikes...just like yours.
The point is "Hey..maybe this is what caused my crash....." as one of the others pointed out..you said that you don't really know how you went down, right?"
You decide for yourself how you want to proceed...but it may prove to be an opportunity to get your new bike![]()
you're right. how do i proceed?
Legalspeed, could you pm me that well written letter again? thanks.
"fuckit!"
Uno momento, it went to digital heaven.
I brought it into this world, I can take it out and make another just like it!
Give me a minute...

Well...first off..did you get the recall letter?
Get your VIN and match it up with range of recalled units...then U could:
1. contact either Kawa USA or your dealer or both.
2. if nogo with them..mention this recall to your insurance company....provide them with some other 636 stories and let them chase Kawa.
I would try Kawa/dealer first.....and as a last resort contact your insurance company...at least try to get the accident removed from your record etc due to serious life threatening mech. failure, blah, blah, blah.
Bear in mind that just b/c your vin is not in the range Kawa is not off of the hook..maybe they haven't heard of any bikes from your production cycle..you need to tell them
Did you get an accident report from the PO?
