I took mine somewhere in the 1996-97 time frame and rode 45 minutes to the Northampton registry because I couldn't get the time I wanted at the Pittsfield registry. The registry cop told me to gear up and meet him in the corner of the parking lot on the motorcycle. When he came out, he told me to do a lap around the parking lot shifting into 2nd at least once and then do a circle and figure 8 in whatever direction I was more comfortable. He said once I was done with them to just go park out front and meet him inside where he would take care of the rest.

Thanks for responding guys.
I found this on the RMV site...
http://www.massrmv.com/rmv/roadtests/sturbrid.htm
Though, there is no info on whether I just go there an wait or if there is a building there etc. On Google maps it looks like nothing at all.Directions
From the Mass Pike. Take Exit 9. The test site is at the intersection of Routes 20 and 131 just South of the Mass Pike interchange.
The address is
Sturbridge MHD/Depot
353 Main Street
Sturbridge MA 01566
I guess I will get there super early and just scout around. Nice that I have to go to Sturbridge for a road test since I live in Belmont![]()
Worst case scenario, there's State CDL test center near-by on Quineboag Rd (just off the Rt 131 and 20 intersection). Assuming they are testing, someone can probably tell you were to go. There's also a state police barracks in the center of the Rt 84 South off-ramp just off Rt 20.

Edit: Wait, is that the place? Do they do the motorcycle tests at the same place they do trucks?
What about taking an Advanced Rider Course with a group who is allowed to protector licensing exams? Maybe they'd be willing to count it as a pass, or do a quick drill at the end and sign you off? Then you don't drive across the state, and get the course as a bonus?

Guessing this would be the Mass Highway Department lot in that area. When I had a test appt. in Lawrence it was at a similar location, just off of Marston St. at a highway dept. lot where they store and load the plow trucks with sand etc. The trooper giving me the test just rolled into the lot and stopped where the motorcyclists were.
Cheers you guys, thanks for the replies.
It all sounds about right then. Hopefully I don't embarrass my self, sounds like it would take some doing... which would make it all the more special
:EDIT:
Ok. For anyone else who runs into this thread wondering how to find this place. It's just at the 130 exit from rte20. There is a depot there where the MHD keeps salt and such. You pull in and there are people lining up to take their test, as well as the test monitors. It's all very friendly and easy. 60x60 space to do circles in two directions, then figure 8's. You need to show your hand signals, make sure you know how to operate your bikes controls (and make sure they work). Then you ride up the road to a police station, turn around in their parking lot and come back to show you can manage your self in traffic. It's true, if you can't do this, you should not have a license. (thankfully I did not embarrass my self. The ride down sucked though, it was raining the whole way)
