X-matching Rectifier/Regulators

I'm not all that familar when it comes to RR's on bikes. I curious as too how easy a RR can cross matched from a different bike. It seems though most difference in them is ther plug style. Which could be changed if needed.
I guess my point is If I find another RR which has the same amount & color wire w/ust different style plug in, Can I use it??
Is there and diffrence between the amount of electricity it gets??
I was planin on something in the same motor size

On BikeBandit.com, the part number for the rectifiers I have are as follows: 173558-001

Try to look up what your bike uses. If they are the same, I have one you can have.
