Yah there are a ton of people on the site who could help you.

It's very easy, the only part that can get tricky is just depending on how involved you want to get in integrating the switch into your dash. If your bike doesn't have a finished/enclosed dash like a lot of race replicas, you can just zip tie/glue/velcro the switch onto the side of something and be done.

I just bought a set of the older style set a few weeks ago. I wonder if I should buy these and sell the other set? I have the set with the resistor....

I don't really understand what the deal is with the resistor.. is it mounted right on the grip where it interferes with something?

No, you have two leads coming from the battery to the switch, then one lead to the grips. On one of the leads coming from the battery there is a resistor. I dunno, doesn't seem like that much of a hassle to me.....

Where did you mount your switch Brent?

right next to the speedo in this little fin of plastic.
I put blue LED's in as hi/lo indicators too. they are damn bright, i need to lower the current to em.
And they both turn on... i think the switch adds a resistive heating element to the path for the different heat levels, not seperate current paths. so really, just one led for on/off would have been sufficient.

the resistor is a large ceramc one, kinda a PIA to find a good place to mount it, I mounted mine on my headlamp bucket out of the way

I have to agree Ben, heated grips are one of those things that once you have em, you wonder how you did without them.

Hmm.. I wonder if I fucked up not using the included switch. Mine are the new ones without the resistor. I didn't use the stock switch, but the one I got had very similar electrical specs, and they seem to work just fine. Maybe I'm losing a little bit of heat though. (ISTR the voltage drops came out right too)

Ben, I just had a look at yours; very clean job installing.

It's funny, I wonder why nobody parked where I did?

Hey, did you guys have to use any glue to keep em in place?

My grips stay stuck, until they warm up and then the throttle side grip starts sliding around. I think maybe its the soap residue in there from when I slid them on.

That's cause you're not supposed to use soap.

yea right, a thick mix of dish soap with water works AWESOME!
You just gotta make sure it cures (couple days) before you use it!

I have been using grip heaters for years. Got 'em on all three bikes. Cheap and great.

Aqua net rocks and works great for potato cannons too.

I would think so. It just has to go on wet and dry sticky.

As a member of the year-round riding club, I recommend these.

I tried to evade their usage via 2 pairs of gloves, heatpacks, and sliding fingers back. It's doable without heated grips, but it's just not fun and relaxing.

when i installed them on ATVs the instuctions said to use a high temp adhesive like JB Weld. I know it sound crazy but it works and isnt hard to scrape off when you remove them later in life
