For a while I thought I was going to go for a sv650 as my first bike, but I started to think about it a little more recently and I think I changed my mind. I think I want to find a good gs500, somewhere in between 1000-2000, hopefully the lower half, and then get a jacket, pants, boots, gloves and a helmet, take the msf course and get my liscense. This way I will save a couple grand on the bike, instead of getting the sv650, and can learn on a good bike, but still not have to worry about it as much as if I had a sv650. Then once I get bored of the gs500 I can sell it and get a better bike, like a yamaha r1 or something real nice like that. That sound like a good plan that is fairly easily attainable?

I'm so proud! The GS won! Don't get me wrong the SV is a great bike and if I ever sell the GS (No, don't ask...) I think I might replace it with a SV. 2 V-twins in the barn would be way cool. After a couple of years on the GS the SV's will be down in price. A nice swap for you!!![]()

you think I can find a fairly nice gs500 for 1500? I think that is the budget I am giving myself for my first bike. Sadly, I am pretty much in debt right now, so it'll be a while before that 1500 will be here. Then I have to spend like 700 on gear and helmet and insurance and msf course.
