    Can am

My daughter got to sit on this thing at the Big E...I must admit, it's pretty cool looking in person. It's certainly not a bike, you can't lean, etc. but I'd rather have this for touring than something like a Goldwing, it looks nicer. Just doesn't have all the comfort accessories like a real touring bike tho. It's pretty "plain". You can test ride one in Flamingo Motorsports, Palmer MA. Ask for John.

I took a test ride on one of those. It was like riding a jetski on land. Fun little thing.

Saw a bunch of them at laconia this year. They certainly are cool looking, but the fact that you can't lean leaves me wanting more. Why isn't the MP3 getting any hype? Its not as cool looking as the spyder, you can lean on it.

I test drove one last year & hated it for the reason Bread said. Steering instead of countersteering. It is a weird sensation expecting to lean into a turn but instead being thrown off to the outside. I've ridden quads & its the same idea, just odd on the street. By the end of the ride me and my buddy were trying to hang off...helped but i'm sure looked like a couple of asshats in the process.

I really love that thing - there are a few in Back Bay/Financial District every now and again.

I have a serious thing for it's larger angrier cousin, the Gilera Fuoco 500

that MP3 is kinda cool. do you countersteer it? how big is the motor? how fast is it? can you romp on the rear brake and back it in?

Yeah.. and they are selling like hotcakes too. The dealer in East Haven I went to has a list of like 10 deposits on top of already selling 30 this season.

I heart Can Am Spyders... If it wasn't the equivalent to another car payment, I would have one by now. I hear what people who already ride are saying about it - but for me (someone without riding experience yet) it seems like a cool option. Saw one at the Larz Anderson museum yesterday and a guy was comparing it to a T Rex!

Ah my bad - I wasnt aware they'd rebranded it for here. Sold overseas as the other name.

As for SVracers question regarding handling - from what I've heard it countersteers as normal. Not too sure about the rest. Power wise, 500cc single cylinder, tops out in the 90mph range or so, with 40hp or so through the CVT transmission.

    Heavy bugger though! 538lb wet.

They are not for a real 'biker' it's more for the person who want more than a convertable. You can't lean them, can't two wheel them they shut down and you go back on three wheels.

how does the cooling work? doest the "radiator" run behind the track so that the snow hits it and cools the coolant. if theres no snow...wouldnt it overheat?

The can-am's are a lot of fun if you can get over steering instead of countersteering.

Touring accessories are in the works and a larger windscreen is already available

    could barely see a headlight......yup it was a can-am.

someone said they had traction control, so just when you think rear end should step out ...the TC kicks in.

Who do you think is the competition for Spyder? I think MP3 but then MP3 still rides like a bike and needs controlling as one. There is the T-Rex but its way more expensive and then the custom trikes.

I am sure they make good sales volumes though.
