What motorcycle gear should be covered by insurance in MA?

I was recently involved in a accident on my Monster. I know the helmet is covered but do they cover the jacket?

Depends on the policy. Some companies include it, some require you buy extra coverage.

Jackets shouldn't be covered as it is a preference item. Helmets on the other hand are required by law and hence they are covered.

I went through this quite some time ago. It took some fighting on my part, but I eventually got State Farm to cover a new helmet & leather repair. And neither is required in NH...

If it was the other guy's fault EVERYTHING should be covered. Single bike, then you have to read the fine print on your policy. I would ask for coverage either way.

I asked for the Helmet and Jacket. On the police report it was stated that it's their fault.

Then they should even replace your underwear.

when your hit and its someone else's fault, everything should be covered, even a cosmetic scratch on your boots

The other drivers insurance should cover everything, but it may be a battle. When I was hit I had to go after the other insurance company myself, I had always been under the impression my insurance would pay me then go after the other company for the money. That didn't happen, and no I do t still have that insurance company.

Progressive covered ALL damaged gear when I was in an accident. it was my fault - no other drivers/riders involved. They covered my boots, motorcycle jeans, jacket, gloves and helmet. I got well over $1000 back in gear money. They paid for replacement cost too.
