Doesn't say anything about a permit being required to take the class, just get licensed afterwards. My read is that you have to be permitted before the class to get your license. And out of staters won't get licensed.

All perfectly reasonable. Getting licensed isn't the only reason to take the class.

I believe if you are a Mass resident you have to have your permit. not sure about out of state people?

When I went 2 years ago everyone had to have their permit...

Well, I don't think that Mr. Crawford is going to be responding to you anytime soon....

However, many people take the MSF for either the insurance discount, to fulfill requirements to ride on Military bases, or to just to refresh their skills.

Like Rossco said, it's a great refresher on skills that many people don't think about every time they get on the bike. Head turns, weaves, that evil UTurn box , etc.

I think it's either 5 or 10% off the basic portion of your policy too.

Plus, it's two days of riding someone else's bike around

If you are not interested in being licensed then a permit is not necessary. If you would like to be licensed in MA, then you must have and bring your motorcycle permit to your classroom date. For out of state residents, you may take our course without a permit, but you should check your state's licensing policy.

well when I went they wouldn't even let us sit the class if we didn't show them our permit but it could have changed
