Ive been talking with my GF about taking the MSF course for her. She is from RI. This is not a problem except for the fact I know some people from MA that are also interested in taking the course as well. I think it would be easier for her if she took the class with people she kind of knew. Im not sure she would do it herself and I dont think it would be worth my money to take it again. I dont have any experience with the RI course.
My question is would completion in the MA MSF course hold up in RI for licensing? I do know in RI to ride you need to complete the course so if the MA course doesnt hold up then it wouldnt be too smart to take that and then take the RI one. If the MA one doesnt hold up are there any instructors here for the RI course? What could she expect taking that one and where would be the best location to do it?
i was under the impression that passing the course and recieving a certificate is just as good no matter what state it is taken in. I would think that she would be fine taking the course in either MA or RI. I would call the foundation if you really want a clear answer

I have had RI residents take the class with me in Mass and they say it is good for a RI license.
I think people do better when they don't know anyone in the class. I have heard stories of couples doing it and they had to be separated because one was coaching the other and stressing them out.
I'd definitely look into it further, because I know the price difference from NH to Mass is significant, (I believe it's $110-NH and $265-MA). I know this doesn't help you in RI, but it goes to show that although MSF is a national organization, it's not entirely unified so to speak. I'd also look at the price difference, if it's $110 in RI and $265 in mass, it's a no brainer for me, fuck my friends...
I just checked, and the RI course is $99 for in state residents. This tells me two things, #1, that it is indeed acceptable to cross state boundaries. And #2, that she better damn well be taking it there. If you have money to burn you can feel free to paypal me the extra $166. Also, it's only $199 for out of state residents in RI, therefore tell your Masshole friends to go down there for it. Taxachusetts gets enough revenue from us out of staters, let's not give them any more than we have to!
When I signed up for the one in NH it said that only NH residents could take the course in NH on the FAQ page. I'm not sure if every state does that but you might want to call them before you send off the application and waste her/your time.
