So as some of you know from the facetube I bought a Multi 1200 S Tourer this spring (super pumped and in love with it). As with anything I've been looking around to see what mods and accessories are available for it. The bike seemingly has damn near everything imaginable from the factory, but I thought I'd see if anybody had any insight into what can be done beyond the typical bolt on parts?

I thought about putting a pipe and chip in it, but honestly I don't know if spending $3000 for that is remotely worth it. Many of the bolt ons seem to be more geared toward off road riding, and if I wanted to do more of that I would have bought a GS. Many others are carbon bits which are sexy but beyond that, meh.

I'm more interested in rigging electronics I think, lighting, gps, etc but would that require a stronger stator mod of sorts? I'm new to the touring world, and what I've bought thus far are more along the lines of light weight camping gear to bring with me.

Also, the high beam seems to be aimed way high, anybody else run into that or is it just because it's different than I'm used to?

If you want lights get l.e.d.s, they draw far less current than incandescent bulbs. GPS should not be a huge draw so go for that for sure. If you're going to ride with heated gear invest in a voltmeter so you know if you're over taxing the charging system. I broke down on the way to work this spring with my wife's Yamaha and heated gear.

Look for a motorcyle specific GPS with a "curvy roads" feature.

It has a voltmeter in the dash, which is cool. I was definitely thinking about heated gear though. Does a Gerbing liner or jacket just plug right into the ports on the bike? Seems like some kind of adapter is needed. I haven't looked into it in much detail (taking the lazyweb approach).

I bought Tourmaster heated jacket liners foer me and the Mrs. They come with everything you need to hook it to the bike and control your heat level. Included is a short pigtail you hook to the battery. On my BMW l leave this under the seat when not in use and it's easy to reach when l want to use it. Be warned though, you will get spoiled by heated gear.

+1 on the D38 (DrySpec) tail bag. Actually, the D66 set (D38 and a D28 that straps on top; both can also be used independently). Twisted Throttle is making some great stuff these days.

Who's to say I didn't? Honestly I got such a deal on it, I couldn't pass it up. It really is my dream bike (for street riding anyway).

Those bags actually do look pretty epic. I was debating on getting the top case so the GF had a back rest and we had more storage for trips, but $700 is painful for a box.

Anybody have any thoughts on mounts for an iPhone on the center of the bars? Looks like the RAM mount is the go to, but I feel like I could make my own for 1/10th the price.

I put on the Givi E55 Topcase (for <$400). I thought I'd only use it for commuting or long trips but it never comes off the bike. Single greatest (street bike) mod ever. Locked, waterproof storage. I have the backrest on the E55 and the GF loves it. Coming home from work and need to pickup dinner/groceries, maybe a whole turkey...no problem. Take the lady out for dinner in the city, throw both helmets in there or one helmet and both our jackets. I had the E52 before but somehow the extra 3L makes a big difference. I don't think I've even used my panniers since I bought them.

RAM mounts are well worth the price IMO. I use this one as I think it's a bit more secure: RAM High Strength Composite Spring Loaded Cradle for Cell Phones. I replaced one of the bolts on my handlebar mount with a RAM ball. It never comes off the bike.
